I thought I would try something different for a change. This isnt a game Im making or planning to start making any time soon, but rather I want to try to pick everyone's brains a little.
Basically its going to work like this:
- I give a game idea + mechanics etc
- People can expand on it, and such as much as they want (also there is an emphasis of thinking of ways to do things)
- Hopefully some new ideas will flow out of this thread with regards to how to do certain things
- Maybe at the end when people feel its been picked enough I'll throw it all together into a prototype or two
This is just meant to try to get everyone talking and learning and such, and if all goes as planned we could even start anew every month or something.
So, enough preamble for people to sort of understand what Im trying to do here, and on with the game that will possibly appear in the end.

Game type: Platformer/Fighter
Inspiration: Heroes (yes, the TV series)
Short and Simple:
Basically this fighter works by using simple AI as you play, but slowly amassing chunks of "movements" as the player progresses. Each character that you play the story of will meet up with another character at some stage, and either use AI if it hasnt been played as a character yet, or throw chunks of player's movements into the AI to vary it. Attacking is simple, but with a twist, every attack in succession can cause combos (as in decreased cooldown time after an attack if you unleash the next attack at the right time).
Additional Ideas:
- Each character has an ability
-Factoring in fatigue and such would mean you can
unleash a fury of attacks and then have to wait to be able to attack
again, or plan attacks slightly to balance it all out.
-To simplify things, the actual animation needs to be
generalised, and the attacks etc aswell, but all working around a base
command system that will allow network play.
