Sorry for the short notice guys.

I run ERDDUG (http://bit.ly/ERDDUG_NH), the East Rand Developer and DBA User Group. We have monthly meetings where we geek out, learn stuff and engage in all manner of lovely 1337ery.

The speaker that was going to present this month had to cancel, so instead of us just staring at a blank projector screen and chuckling at geek jokes*, I am giving a sneak preview of my presentation on GM and AGS this month with the full presentation next month. However, instead of embarrassing myself on trying to convey the little experience I have with GM, would anyone here like to join us and present on GM?

I'm getting to grips with AGS quite nicely, so I think I'll be pretty comfortable on presenting that. However, if anyone with more experience would like to present on AGS, you're welcome to reply to this thread too.

* Jokes like "Why can't you make jokes in octal? Because 7 10 11!" (There are at least two layers of meaning in this joke...)

I'm sure we've got someone who can tackle this... Anyone seen Oldtimer recently? When does Edg3 get back?

You might have to pick people up and/or promise them a meal though, AndrewJ ;)

I'm catering for this meeting, so I'm bringing cake and/or cupcakes and/or pancakes and/or flapjacks and/or banana loaf and/or madeira loaf so get your presentation-laden backside to the meeting! :-)

so get your presentation-laden backside to the meeting! :-)Oh, yeah, it would help if you just let me know beforehand that you're coming, don't *just* pitch...

I'll kick edg3 in the shins to do something.

I can manage anything within my petrol tank range of rand park ridge, as for getting to East Rand thats not an issue. I could most probably do the talk on GM, but how in depth are you aiming for? Also, I can probably rope Oldtimer in as Im studying with him and can give him a literal shin kick :P

Thanks a whole big bunch edg3!!! I think an intro with a few deep nuggets would be nice - we're mostly experienced programmers.

There is a map on the ERDDUG website and we start at 9:30 for 9:45.

Oooooookay... our company just updated it's website a few days ago and broke the bit.ly link. Here is the direct link: http://www.taxsmart.co.za/ContactUs/Map.aspx

edg3, thank you so much for all your help! Your presentation was good and well understood by everybody there. The next time we meet, you qualify for an extra piece of cake :-)

Was going to ask how it went. Sounds like a success, nice one Edg3!

It was a great success, I learnt a lot, and I'll be missioning out to the next meeting (if I can make it) aswell.
