So.

It's hardly a secret that nothing's been happening on this front for quite some time. Astute folks will have noticed that the site itself has recently vanished. Personally, I can no longer find the required time to handle everything for the site, and both Nandrew and I agree that it's about time that we admit that it's the end of the road for us at the helm. But, rest assured, things aren't over, and neither is Dev.Mag gone. Things are changing.

And they're changing in the direction of our awesome Mr Tulleken, who has agreed to take the reins. The site is down now while the hosting changes and the domain moves to the new host. So before long, we should see it re-appearing, and, hopefully, still completely intact and once again active. Herman's working hard to get it back up, and has organised his own contacts to help keep the running smooth - hopefully smoother than it was under Nandrew and myself!

So Dev.Mag will still be around, still community based, and anyone who contributed before or still wants to contribute is welcome to do so. I'll be passing the contact details for our regular writers on to Herman at some point - if anyone has any objections to this, please let me know. Otherwise, I imagine he'll be getting in touch with you shortly about whether or not you'll be interested in writing more stuff. Besides that, things should mostly be continuing pretty much where we left off once the site's up again, just under someone new.

Hopefully, Dev.Mag's done well enough for our community in the time it was handled my me and Nandrew, and I hope it can continue to be a valuable local resource.

Whooo! It lives! Good luck to Herman in keeping Dev.Mag running, and a hearty salute to Chippit for all the hard work he put in during his tenure (including coding the entire freakin' Dev.Mag site himself). Here's to more useful, entertaining content and local community support!

Awesome. Glad to hear it won't disappear forever.

Hi All,

The good news is that the site is up and running again. Dev.Mag's back!

The bad news is, there are still a few things to be done before we put up new content...but keep an eye out, it won't be long!

Chippit and Nandrew have set the bar high - Dev.Mag has done well - and the mag will not be the same without them (well, not that they are disappearing, I hope both of them will keep making appearances!) Hmmm, and I think the smoother ride Chippit promised is a bit optimistic; you guys must please be patient while I learn the ropes!

Dev.Mags greatest asset is its content, I hope that all the old writers will still write for it (look out for a mail from me soon!). And if you haven't written for Dev.Mag before, and want to - please drop me a mail! [herman dot tulleken at gmail dot com]

While we are getting things together, this is perhaps also a good time to get some of your ideas that we can implement - features for the site, new ideas for content, areas we should focus on or give more attention. Please let us know in the thread!

(Oh, and BTW, "my contacts" [sounds so ominous!] will mostly be people you already know and has written here before; I am just still in the process of making it "official".)

No game development mafia, Herman? I'm a bit disappointed. I was expecting suits!

He's keeping them in reserve for when writers start missing deadlines. ._.

Time to stock up on prosthetic kneecaps!

This is great news, I always enjoyed your articles Herman so I look forward to seeing where you take Dev.Mag!

I have a few ideas for articles swirling around, I'll have to try find some time to put them together.

One thing I would like to see on the site is a big focus on local talent, I think a lot of attention could be gained by doing features on the likes of QCF, Luma, Tasty Poison etc.

Threats, violence, bribery and blackmail: how else is anything done :P ? But thanks for spoiling the surprise; I guess it's gonna be more interesting now to get new writers... [Edit: There is always kidnapping]

@Imsomniac Yes, locally there are quite a few exciting things happening, silently and not so silently. In addition to features on the big ones, we will also try to track down some of the "dark matter" of game development.
