Such a good move.

Seriously.

As much as I did want to read the DevMag issues, I'd usually end up downloading them and forgetting to read, or something equally lame. The way it's set up now, I get to read an article instantly, find only the stuff in which I'm interested, and (I assume) I get to read articles as soon as they're ready, rather than having to wait months for an update.

So much awesome. <3

[edit] And now that I've actually browsed the thing, I can only send more praise your way. It's so easy to navigate. :'( I... It's a dream come true! *breaks out into tears*

Yeah, that was a bit much, wasn't it? :P

Luv the new design.

Great article Nandrew "Somebody slap me in the face", this is also a problem I had with people appraising games that are crappy, all this does is cause a bumerang affect bringing the same quality of games back week after week. Instead they should be giving advice on how they can improve their games and appraise good design concepts. Gaming communities are great at exposing new game developers to more experienced game developers, but it won't help if all you are doing is telling them how great their games are and not pointing out the flaws. You guys/girls need to be more hard on them, especially if they show no progress. It is also good to encourage them if they are just starting to develop.

A very loud applause from my side. Being able to read it online is an incredible up-side and the UI is catering for everyone's needs as you can automatically skip to you whatever you are interested in reading instead of having to scroll all the way down...

Very well done! ('o',)

Nicely done, and a bold new step forward for the mag! This gives me shivery-excitey feelings all over.

But let's not rest on our laurels, dear contributors, this site needs populating!

I love the new feeds!

I do also have a complaint though, I can't navigate to a specific issue (although the links do exist) and I can't find a way of getting to the archives. Your menu at the top breaks the articles down nicely by type but can you add a menu with a link to the whole mag and the archives?

Also, although you have the Syndication page, you're missing the feeds listing in your header tags so that browsers can automatically detect feeds. Please add as well.

Otherwise, the idea to have permalinks to articles is made of win and makes blogging and sharing A LOT easier! Thank you!

Any chance of putting up the articles from the previous issues in the new format?

The issue navigation is being worked on, I bothered Chippit about exactly the same thing last night ;)

A lot of the articles on there in the Archives section are from previous editions of the mag. AFAIK Chippit and Q are working on putting up all the old pdfs as well as going through the issues and turning previous articles into web-info. I'm sure suggestions on particular articles to focus on would be appreciated :)

Just on the note of the old articles:

We are planning to (and are busy with) getting the older stuff onto the site, we just chose a few select articles to begin with so that the site didn't feel so empty - but the others are coming. But as far as I know, not -every single- archived article will make it on, but that's really up to Chippit.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

Are you guys still going to be doing monthly releases or will you be posting now as articles become available?

Well it'd be a bit silly to just leave the site to lie dormant while we amass articles each month. The release of articles will more than likely happen more regularly (as in weekly), and each article will be associated with a specific "issue" (for instance, articles released this month in April, will be a part of Issue 31).

That's the -idea-, but I think with the new format still being so fresh, it might take a while for it to get into full swing. Most people are used to the idea of a deadline that we can procrastinate past.

So it's a mix, really, of planned release and post-it-as-it's-done. I'm not sure how Chippit is going to manage the planning of content though; it'll more than likely take that same "new thread" structure, or communication with the regular contributors on a one-to-one basis. Only he can really answer that, all this is just based on what he and I discussed before starting the actual site.

there is also the option of at the end of the month creates a pdf of all added articles, for download. insert generic header page, footer page and randomly insert the ads and voila. : P

Great work guys! Can I download a copy to read at home please? I don't have internet at home right now (long story) and I'm not too sure it would be kosher for me to read GAME DEVELOPER PR0N at work.

Aha, I knew I was forgetting something. Done that.

Also, I'll work on linking the issue pages from more locations. Currently, the only way to get there is from the link on the home page, and then the 'issuexx' tags on specific articles.

I think a PDF at the end of the month would be great to download for offline reading and sharing with others. But at least now you can do that at your leisure rather than cramming a deadline

WOW! Amazing job guys! The site is TOP NOTCH!

I found it really easy to navigate, and it just seems to flow so well! I was able to find and read articles with ease, and the article layout works perfectly. I also like that readers can leave a comment after reading an article.

Seriously, this is legendary stuff. You guys have done a great job!
