I was just fooling around (idea thanks to IT textbook).

The game
you have to direct a uhm...robot for now around collecting flags in the least amount of moves. Its very rough and just an idea (dont even know if it could be a good puzzler/fun to play)

Controls
r/right =moves right
u/up =moves up
d/down =moves down
l/left =moves left

Filecloset seems to hate me atm.

so heres (http://drop.io/randomidea) where you can get it (~1mb)

That's quite cool, |-|1Pp13. ^_^

Hmm... Have you considered having the player "program" the robot (using a very simple "language"), and having it then move according to its program, without player intervention?

(You could even, perhaps, go as far as creating something like this (http://www.gamerz.net/c++robots/), but with graphics and, I would suggest, a simpler "language".)

Instead of controlling the robot using the arrow keys, why not control the robot by placing objects for it to walk over that change what it's doing? That's similar to the programming idea that Thaum has, but it'd be simpler while still keeping the logic angle.

I made a similar game idea as part of a NAG series once, Golems, AFAIR.

this is a cool idea, though i think mouse input would make it more accessible...its an old concept, though its a cool idea.
Perhaps thaum has a twist to it that makes it stand out, write a simple lanuage compiler, and "compile" the command programs before you drag and drop the program in the robot, then have it follow the instructions. this makes the player feel more part of the game, not like the robot is working and he is just watching the robot play. Interaction between the robot and the player would need more than typing the console full of single letters,

but im sure u can push the idea much further :)

ya i was just trying out the idea, if i get around to it (which i might ;P) ill do the following:

Enter all the commands then watch the robot do its work (was in my original idea but a bit complex for a quick demo)
Certain things on the floor effect its movement
and basically everything else everyone has said so far =P

EDIT: oh yes who would actually like me to make this game? handsup kthnx

Have you played Chu Chu rocket before?

How about something like that but with all different kinds of tiles and stuff. Is that wat Thaum meant?
