I just got word from I-Imagine that they're looking for someone to expand their mobile games department (as in iPhone), here's the email:

I-Imagine is looking for a programmer to join our team to work on mobile projects.
This is a full time position based in Bryanston, Johannesburg, to start ASAP.
The successful candidate will be a motivated and responsible self-starter capable of learning on the job as necessary, work well in a team and deal well with authority figures.
Experience in C++ programming (on any platform) and development on mobile platforms are essential. At least some of this experience should be game related.
A relevant tertiary qualification, demonstrable examples of prior work and experience in 3D programming and in particular with objective C (iPhone) development will all be beneficial to your application.

To apply, send a full CV and url to a website with samples of your work to jobs <at> i-imagine <dot> com. Please do NOT attach samples of work directly to your email application.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Get cracking people ;)

Objective-C: You +load the gun and -pullTheTrigger:(id)target. Your foot gets -shot:(id)sender.

I saw that and was also like "WTF? Objective C?"

oh ObjectiveC is when C++ and Smalltalk had a kid; at its essential basis, it's C++ with Smalltalk's messaging system.

So any chance you'll be applying then Fengol? ;)

Thanks Fengol but you misunderstood me. I was trying to express my surprise at their choice of language.

BTW-the smalltalk stuff I saw at varisty in 2004 gave me the impression that "Smalltalk" is a synonym for "horrible."

. I was trying to express my surprise at their choice of language.

iphone platform IS objective C.. Doing code in c++ or objective c++ is fine as well, but there has to be some objective C to get anything to run on the device ;)

You +load the gun and -pullTheTrigger:(id)target. Your foot gets -shot:(id)sender

But it didnt get stuck in the autorelease pools so you missed cos the bullet got dropped "sometime in the future" :(

Sorry guys, it seems the auto-notification on the forum has some gremlins, I didn't realize there had been more posts on this thread. We haven't filled the position yet, end-of-project is a bit of a hectic, time-consuming period so things like that tend to fall by the wayside ;)

@Etiko please drop me a pm with your details so i can check if your application got gobbled up by our spam filter.
