Before you ask, i have no idea what the title is either...

Well iv decided to take make a platformer adventure puzzler game...

Basically you play as an adventurer who has the ability to manipulate elements... But the only way inwhich the hero can be imbued with these abilities is to die by them!

Once you obtain an ability (die) you get sent to an ethereal area where you have to defeat gouls and monsters to get back to your body! Once you retrieve your body, your abilities then become usable in the real world.

Once you have control of your body you'll have to use your new abilities to advance through the level...

**********
So in-a-nut-shell by dying you gain abilities which helps you progress to the end of the level.
Im not 100% sold on any of my ideas, and im sure that the whole idea will probably have to be dumped once i start game makering it!

Odd - I thought the title was a French pun. "Seulement" means "alone" in French. ;)

Looks interesting. I like the way that the player still has to fight for their abilities, rather than just sitting there being hacked to bits to gain abilities with no extra effort.

Sweet on the french word... I think the only way for this idea to get anywhere is if i just start working on it... See what my capabilities are..

That sounds like a pretty cool idea, Cloud_Ratha. ^_^

Hmm... What happens when the player has acquired all available powers? Admittedly, I suppose that this could be avoided reasonably well by simply spreading out the various means of death sufficiently - if you only encounter lava on the final stage, for example, you might only acquire lava powers on that stage.

However, what happens if you die normally, or to something whose power you have already taken? Does the player still battle through ghouls to reach their body? Do powers perhaps level up the more you die to the appropriate means?

Finally. am I correct in imagining the player battling through the level in which they died (perhaps colour shifted), battling ghoulish foes, in order to reach their body, after which the level reverts to normal, including the presence of enemies (along the lines of Soul Reaver, based on my recollections of demos)? If so, then that sounds very cool indeed. ^_^
