I have been wanting to create a game for awhile but haven't really had the motivation but I've decided I gotta stop putting it off
I want to explore a part of zombies that no one has done properly the actual getting to survive if you can't tell what I'm trying to say think I am Legend: the video game.
I want it to be a rpg with some interesting gameplay elements e.g: do I stay up to make bracades to stop zombies attacking or go to sleep so I can have full health to raid an outpost
Does anyone know what would be the best application to use and any comments on my idea

I found RPG Maker XP (http://tkool.jp/products/rpgxp/eng) easy to use; comes with graphics and animations for characters, npc's and monsters; default values for combat, XP and items and when I was playing with it I saw there already a zombie monster you can use out the box.
An RPG should revolve around a players choices hence the term Role Playing Game. Unfortunately because mapping those choices and linking them into an overall story is can become quite hard, RPG mainly stands for Stats Grinding.
However, a survival game should be easier because the characters don't have to survive in every branch. If the players choices are too wasteful or ill considered he can expect to be over powered by the zombie hordes at some point. That said, don't only have 1 path to winning the game otherwise it becomes the dreaded "game tree of death".

I highly recommend Notrium (http://www.monkkonen.net/notrium/) for reference/inspiration if you haven't already played it. It's perhaps the best survival game I've played. It's also very moddable, so you can play around with some ideas without actually needing any other software.
In other news, I love the idea of a zombie survival game.

I know I'll try to plan as many endings as I can and to make sure I do this I'll think of a way that each stat will get you a ending that the others don't
I am going to see if I can implement a robust item combination system e.g: combine combat knife and stick and get a improvised spear or combine toy bunny and pole and get the fluffly mace of doom
And what about a mode where all you have to do is survive this whole mess forever and then we can see who surivives the longest (with revised stats and weapon damage of course)
Constructive critizism is welcome and new ideas

this sounds like a game i would buy. Just a suggestion, should make a multiplayer mabey where you can start a Co-Op campaign or somthing with others to build forts and other stuff so it's just not you fighting and mabey create you'r own character from scratch. So good luck on the game!

My reply is a bit late here, but I'd second this idea. I haven't played Notrium myself, but I know a few friends who have and who enjoy it quite a bit. There's apparently quite a time investment required to "get into" it, but otherwise it's a rather good example.
Talking purely secondhand, of course. The game's been sitting on my drive for about a week now and I still haven't gotten round to it. Playtime's been swallowed by "serious" gaming and Roguelikes. :)

So, have you started progress on the game yet?
