Hi again. Sorry for my absence, but i haven't really been into game.dev recently. That said, my creative juices built up and after reading about the Soul Bubbles game I couldn't hold them in any more. After seeing what another guy in my res was working on, these two things triggered the following: Soul Flow. The basic game idea will be that you have to transport souls from their spawn point on the level to a portal to be reborn into life once again. I know this seems very similar to Soul Bubbles, but it's not quite the same, and even if it is, I'm just making it for fun, i have no intention of selling it.

So here's the link: http://www.gamedev.za.net/filecloset/download.php?id=663

The controls are in the readme.txt file. Get them there.

This is the windows version. I am devving on linux, so there is obviously a linux version, just say if anyone wants it.

The 'liquid' of souls consists of particles which experience simple attractive and repulsive forces. The liquid is drawn by getting the 'field strength' at a specific point (basically metaballs) Oh and all the graphics are procedurally generated. The levels too (well not entirely, but mostly) More technical details are freely available at request.

So have fun playing around and tell me what you think.

EDIT: Oh and before you ask, it is version 0.03, there's no mistake. I'm only just decided to put soul flow here today.

Sweet. Got 0.03. The new spiral styles looks neat. You just have to get started on some proper gameplay now.

That's really ~sweet~ man! The procedurally generated backgrounds look awesome! I hope you continue dev soon, i'd play something like this.

i will say that there is a strong chance of me finishing this, or at least getting much further, but no guarantees ;)

posted on circular pong thread, but relevant:

Oh and something else that i thought of: if anyone is interested, the source code is available from me on demand. I programmed both circular pong and soul flow in C using SDL. Also both procedurally generate gfx (not much of an achievement in circular pong tho, but might be interesting for soul flow's gfx)

sorry about that, if you like i can send it to you via email, just email me to ask. if it takes to long for filecloset to come back up, i'll try host it somewhere else, but it's just effort and i'm lazy.
