Looks cool :) Not sure If I can use it as is but hopefully someone can.
The link you posted needed about 4 clicks to even see what the GUI pack looked like, normally I wouldn;'t bother but I wanted to see what you were talking about. Based on your link it seems more of a spam for your blog than the actual GUI Pack for which the link should have been posted as: http://www.owned.co.za/fail/?page_id=2

Hmm... well, first person shooters are probably quite popular, which might be good for up-take. Furthermore, I would imagine that a lot of the elements would be usable in other forms of action game as well.
Of course, simulation games are probably more GUI-intensive in general than most first-person shooters.
Unless of course you meant setting or story genres, in which case I would recommend:
1) Fantasy:
- Themed around paper, brass, wood, stone and crystal (or some subset of these)
- Themed around nature
- Themed around ancient civilisations, using primarily stone, wax or clay, ideograms, and perhaps angular text.
2) Steampunk.
3) Sci-fi:
- Grungy, dark sci-fi (dark, oily metal, with parts, piping and ducts visible)
- "Clean" sci-fi, themed around bright metal (especially steel) and white plastic.
4) Modern, Windows- or Mac- like themes.
5) "Cartoony" themes.
6) Horror themes.
Admittedly these are rather cliche, but hopefully they'll help to some degree. ^^;

lol, thanks for the input man, i meant genre in the more second sense, cos an fps can be anything from fantasy to sci fi, but yea.
Ill be thinking about this just now and showing some progress soon im sure.
more input is appreciated

Hmm, I'm looking for a gui for Adventure Quest 2 could you do a Sierra style circa 1987 (I particularly like the MSN people you have and would like to see them rendered in full EGA quality)
