Ok. This is a game that my friend and I wanted to work on. It simulates the stock market. In this game, you are broke and must try get rich in one month. You buy shares, and stock to grow companies that you have invested in and so on. We are going to try to simulate the stock market as closely as possible. The interface should be the similar to "drug lord", it is going to be developed in delphi so you can expect a form with just text and stats. Would this qualify for comp 16? Any additional ideas would be appreciated and please let me know what you guys think of the idea.

Guy in shadow: *pssst*
Nervous Businessman: Looks around, confused.. nervous
Guy in shadow: Over here! -waves-
Nervous Businessman: Ohh.. -walks over-. Did you get it?
Guy in shadow: Yeah, I got the stuff. -waves a stack of documents around- It's real good.. mess you uuuupp!
Nervous Businessman: -glances around- How much?
Guy in shadow: Man, this ten gee's of finest UberCorp options, and I'm willing to let it go for just $5000!
Nervous Businessman: -has nervous wet dream-
etc, etc :)

Btw, you really should check out Asphyre (http://www.afterwarp.net/) sometime. Delphi can do a lot more than nasty windows GUI stuff.

@ET: If only business really was that entertaining. One million points. :D

My dad will love you, UO, because he's been looking for something like this for years. That said, this is a really, REALLY complex thing to simulate. If you plan to enter it for the comp, you may not make it, especially since we're halfway through the month. Of course, there's nothing stopping you otherwise. Regardless, I'd like to see this game finished. Good luck!

@ Evil_Toaster. 10000 uber-million points. I have the asphyre suite. It really cool but if we enter it for comp 16, it may only have text but I think maybe not. It probably wont be finished by the deadline anyway.
@ Gazza_N. Thanks. My friend is some genius. He has all the complex stuff figured out. I just need to help with the programming. Still need to play your game. I'm looking fwd to it.
@Tr00jg. Thanks for that link. I don't have time right now but I'll look into it in the near future.
Do you guys think it would be more effective with a "serious" nature or lots of humor?

It could work with either, although a humorous approach might attract more gamers who aren't really into that sort of thing. You'd have to experiment.

I advocate humour! I get enough seriousness at work. ;)

Same. The idea of a funny and amusing stockmarket is awesome.

If you think stockmarket you get this idea of all these crazy business people shouting at wherever they buy and sell stocks. (You get the picture).

It could make for a nifty mini-game when the people break out in a brawl. :P

I see that humour wins with you guys but my friend says "I don't want to make a mockery of the game". Maybe I'll develop 2 versions or include some humour into the game, well we'll see what happens. Thanks for the feedback guys.
