I know this is a late entry and I may not be able to finish it in time, but I have to try. :)
Elven Raiders will be a strategy game in which you play as a small tribe of men who have to defend against waves of rogue elven warriors who wish to reclaim the land which was once theirs.
It will be similar to Tower Defence in playability and hopefully just as addictive. It also will fit in perfectly with this comp as the player will have to hold off the enemy for 9 minutes before help arrives to save the day.
I got this idea from a few people who made a tutorial on rts games done in DBPro and I am hoping that I will be able to get a working version of this game out soon. Just dont expect anything spectacular just yet :)

Hi all, I have a simple scroll beta version which I want to share but I dont know where the best place would be to host the file? I need to show it to you guys so that you might help me find a few better textures than the ones I have already :)

This is why we have the Game.Dev filecloset (http://gamedev.openhazel.co.za/filecloset/).

Thanks FuzzYspoON, that was a big help.
To update you guys, While I carry on searching for textures and so forth, I am busy programming in my HUD. I am having a bit of difficulty however getting the HUD to communicate with the game environment, hopefully I can solve that soon. I hope to have some movement as in people walking around on the next release. :)

Guys, I am sorry to do this to you but I am having so serious problems with my coding in this game. I unfortunately wont be able to finish it for this comp. Anyway, some of you guys look to have some really awesome work that is far superior to what I had done so far anyway. :) Good luck to you all and maybe I will eventually be able to enter this game in a later comp.

I'm sorry to hear that you're encountering such serious problems, infinitely_blue - what are they, if I may ask?

I am having trouble with my movement placement. I just can seem to wrap my mind around how to stop my units from walking through buildings and other objects and when I set them to collidable, I get some serious debug errors. As soon as I have worked them out, I will post what I have so far again.

Aah, fair enough.
Well, perhaps if you show us the problem code, someone here can help. ^_^

I know it has been a long time since I posted anything new, but I will admit, I have completely changed the game. To start off, I have scrapped using Dark Basic Pro and instead, I have bought a licence to use the Torque Game Engine Advanced. I have done this because I see great potential with that engine, especially being able to port it over to the Wii and 360 later on down the line and also if the game is up to scratch, they distribute as well. Only thing is, I am still learning C++ so it will take some time to get through.
@ Dislekcia: Could you maybe change the title of this thread to remove the 17 no. out of it?
Thanks

Well, I'm glad to hear that you're still going - very good luck with Torque, and with the game. ^_^
I'll admit, I'll probably be interested to hear your impressions of the engine, as I may be wanting to look around for an engine of some sort at some stage... ;)

Well, so far I will admit, the engine throws one completely into the deep end as it gives you the complete source code with a few demo programs and you get to edit it as you need and add things in.
In actual fact, who here has good experience in C++ that could maybe help me with one or two aspects? I admit that I am still studying C++ at Varsity and I am no where near clued up enough to be able to decipher some of this. In any case though, from what I have been able to do so far with the engine has been extremely impressive.

I'm glad to hear that it's looking good thus far. ^_^
As to C++, what's the problem? I don't know whether my own knowledge will include the areas that you want help with, but it's worth a shot, and if not, perhaps one of the others might help. ^_^

AFAIK Torque doesn't do tons of crazy templating, so it shouldn't be too complicated... What's the problem? If I can't help, I'm sure Xyber or Coolhand could if I prod them ;)
