Hey everyone,
thought I'd dust off the cricket I was working on. I wasn't happy with the physics but I gave it some thought and I'm going to try out a few hacks to make it more realistic. If anyone is interested in redoing animated sprites for me, you can check out the current feel at video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ag6Wc0Nxc0c). Either PM me or email me at kurtkz@yahoo.com.
Cheers
Kurt
PS. Something along the lines of Sensible Soccer-style (if anyone remembers that game) artwork would be perfect :)

Dude! Why do you need new graphics? I think that they are pretty sweet as is... very stylish and retro :)
I really like the sense of polish that you seem to put into your game kurkz (ie. 2D shadows, fake motion blur on the ball, etc.).
Good luck with adding even more polish to it!

Thanks Coolhand, but I think it really needs an overhaul :( I actually played Sensible Soccer Skillz on my cell the other day and I think it's style is perfect for this type of game. I don't mind doing pixel art, but it takes me forever. The sprites in this game each had about 10 different animations, 4 directions, at least 4 frames per direction. Multiply that by 4 different sprites (umpire, bowler, keeper, batsman) and it adds up in the end :P
Some of the effects I wanted to include:
* weather - cloud formations via cellular automata & predefined cloud "wisps", rain, dew
* lighting - day/night cycles, flood lights
* crowds - mmm...I might just steal Sensi Soccer's sprites for those :P
* shadows - shadows would skew depending on position of sun
* birds - simple flocking for grounds like Lords (those damn pigeons :P)
Mmm...I think I'll get started on those things next week...

Sweet, I'm a big fan of cricket games (Even EA's ones which seem to get bashed a lot). So put a playable version up already.

Hehe, sorry Squid, no can do :/ It's nowhere near playable. You could play it I guess, but it's not *fun* yet. The physics need tweaking and so do the player stats. All in good time though. Eish...so many projects...I might be taking on a little bit too much :)

@ CaptainCrunch:
Hehe, my sentiments exactly :P Mmm, it might not be what everyone is hoping for though...basically, there'll be two modes in the playable version: (1) arcade & (2) sim/management. The arcade mode will play kinda like Sensi Soccer (but cricket obviously) while the sim/management mode will play like Michael Vaughan's Cricket Manager - but more fun obviously :)
Anyone like to put forward ideas for the sim/management mode?

Looks really cool man. I agree with Coolhand, I like the toons graphics also. But yeah, since you're going for realism, I understand why you'd wanna change them. Anyway, hurry up and make with a demo already! :D

@ Cyberninja:
I'm not really going for realism with the graphics so much as the physics. I'm a big fan of pixel art from the 90's so I'm trying to stick to that :)
