Yea i'm going to attempt a rpg again.
i'll get round to posting particulars of it later, I've decided i'm going to go with a top down view
rather than side on but in the interim i'd created this.
you cant do much except move left and right and jump, but some comment on the art would be
nice. also would the level backdrop work as a main menu background for the top down version ?

have a look see here (http://gamedev.openhazel.co.za/filecloset/data/files/261/winternight.exe)

What sort of feel are you going for?

At the moment it has a cartoony feel, and does well at that, I believe I quite like the halo about the moon. ^_^

I do note that the character's sword is a little difficult to make out against the dark sky - an outline (either lighter of darker) should help, I imagine.

The icicles on the bottom of the bridge seem to be a bit of an isolated phenomenon, however - why are there icicles only there? (Presuming that I'm interpreting them correctly, of course).

As to its use as a main menu backdrop, it could work, depending on your menu placement (I would suggest the large black sections to the left and especially the right), and, again, your intended style.

lol yea I didn't really put much thought into the image I just started drawing something to use to test my idea of having a image for the level with a mask for the walkable areas
