So I've been working on building and testing this for the past few months, and I figure it's about time I post about it because nobody's actually talking about games on this forum anymore. Also, I wanted to start another forum post with the word 'so'.

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_trnDzdqyRnE/TL22-5wVNaI/AAAAAAAABDk/RhjvnjrKSKs/s912/IMG_0071.JPG

I'm not going to bother trying to explain the game rules in this thread, since I've already gone through the effort of writing it out all formal-like (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12767591/Boardgame%20Rules.pdf) (this link should always point to the newest version of the rules); which, obviously, makes it seem about 403847 times more complicated than it really is. Yay!

Anyway, basic premise is it's for up to 6 players, played on a modular hexagonal board and paced by a single 80-card deck. Obviously everything's still prone to change (it's already changed 403847 times itself), but it's about fleshed out enough that I'm happy to share it.

Images of all the cards here (http://picasaweb.google.com/114698231452227866964/BoardgameCards?authkey=Gv1sRgCOPc_cCBr5i3YA#). And an image of a professionally printed one (http://picasaweb.google.com/ch1ppit/Boardgame?authkey=Gv1sRgCL33mIPnh4CRigE#5548989677 087967458), together with quite a lot more of everything in various stages of production (with delightfully flattering photos of my ****ty paper board).

I'd share everything you need to actually make the game, but just the board itself is more cutting than any sane person would willfully want to endure, so I'm not going to bother. Eventually (hopefully), I'll find a way to produce a proper board out of something stiff - like polystyrene - which I'll paint; one day, of course, when I find someone who's actually willing to produce it. If someone's got another better idea for the production of the board (it needs to be stiff and accurately cut, because the pieces need to fit together in pretty much every possible orientation), I'm all ears!

I also seem to have forgotten to take photos of the actual game in play during the few playtests I've had, besides one up there somewhere of me playing against myself with hastily printed cards and Civ 5 collector's edition figurines vs chess pieces - pieces that were, needless to say, waaay too big for my board, the paper version of which is already 80% of the size it should be so I could actually print it in my A4 home printer.

Because I'm difficult with names it's not yet in the thread title (I imagine dammit is frowning disapprovingly right now), but the tentative game title is Fl!p. Or Fl!P. Or something I can make an ambigrammatic logo out of, because those are delightfully cheesy.

Anyway, I'd expect an electronic version at some point, because at least that means I can share it and everyone can test. When I get around to it, and after I'm happy with everything else. Go discussion!

Also, I totally rock at this game. \o/

A far higher quality (read: not 80g/m^2 paper) and larger board!

Now I just need 23 more pieces like it...

You mean you don't need a computer? Quaint.

You bringing this for testing when you come down, Chappat?

Looks good. I can just imagine my brother trying to comprehend those rules. Even I can't quite comprehend them. You must try and get Warhammer Fantasy Figures, that way you can customise your characters and people can bring their own pieces.

Course I am. Hopefully I can finish enough pieces of the proper board so that we can use it instead. It's far sturdier and easier to play on. Only 20 to go...

****.

And hopefully it survives the trip too. That'd be nice.

They sound a lot more complicated than they are when written down. It's a hazard of writing stuff formally. That, and physical player sheets help for the numbers.

Board (one of many potential layouts) for three players ready, with pseudo-game in progress!

Here's hoping it doesn't disintegrate now...

More board games should be made with steel plates imo.

This looks awesomely done. Something new around here. Does this mean I can post stuff about my naval wargaming rules and it's accompanying figures I created?

Edit. I'm typing like my ass again.

What gave you the impression you couldn't in the first place?

So I actually remembered to take photos of an in-progress game (I think dammit also has some more):

(Click for full size)

Thanks to everyone who played and gave feedback. I'll probably be making some adjustments to a few things here and there, but I'm happy with many things as they stand. Will update later!

That was a lot of fun Chippt. I enjoyed being all odd and sneaky in the beginning, before Aeq's map control earned him like a bajillionty popcorns...
