The aim of the game is to kill as many people as possible. Once "x" number of people are killed, you move over to the next stage. Which doesn't exist yet, as the game is still incomplete. The game will close automatically once the scores are shown.

Heheh, that's not bad, once you get past the subject matter. ^_^
The graphics are nicely stylised, and work pretty well, and I think that you've achieved an appropriate (if such a word really applies to this game ;P) tone.
All in all, a cool little game. ^_^

Hehe. Yeah, I kinda like this style also. ^_^
It was just meant to be place holder art until I finish the full game. ^_^ I was planning a "South Park" style for the final graphics. Something to lighten the mood a bit. I think I should have left out that evil laugh though. A bit too evil me thinks? :/

Cool. Glad you liked it. :) I was going to add more levels to the game. The remainder of the game with give you more crazy/funny ways to kill people. Firebombs, acid drops, ropes, baseball bat, monster trucks, sniper guns, anvils, fireworks, chainsaw, bananas and forks, to name a few. =]
I'm really not sure if I'm gonna complete the game though. Due to the subject matter. I'm still deciding on that.

Honestly, at the moment it strikes me as being sinister in an over-the-top way, which I think works very well for this game. I don't think that a lighter, South-Park-like style would suit this game as well as the current style.
Anyway, I think that having dark, featureless character-blobs makes it a little more palatable than I imagine would be the case with characters possessing at-all-defined faces. ^^;;;
I think I should have left out that evil laugh though. A bit too evil me thinks? :/
Hmm... I'm not sure...
If it's seen as being similarly over-the-top, then it should work, I believe. If not, then it could indeed be seen as being in slightly poor taste...
If the laugh were even further over-the-top, it might be in safer territory. Of course, if you're worried, then the safest route might well be to remove it entirely.

Heheh, that sounds as though it could well work - perhaps especially if the methods become increasingly absurd as the game goes on. ^_^
By the way, when you say "bananas", you don't, by any chance, mean banana bombs, as seen in Worms, do you...? (I'm rather fond of banana bombs. ^_^)

Yep. I agree. It works. I'm still in two minds about this, however. Okay, what I'll do:
I'll do a quick "South Park" graphic change to the game, and you guys tell me which style you prefer. :)

I wholly agree. That would be the perfect direction to take. ^_^ The more over-the-top, the better. ^_^

Hehe. No, I meant the old banana slip trick. ;) The player with have to drop banana peels in various positions resulting in the pedestrian slippin on them, and breaking their necks.
EDIT: Added a version that is compatible with Vista. Check first post.

Heheh, I like the Punisher-like design on the Creeper's shirt, and I really like the inclusion of some of the characters that you have wandering past (in particular Barney and a Terminator). ^_^
Hmm... Overall, this version does seem to be a little more engaging. I was worried that the better-defined characters (a very relative term in this case, I would say ;)) would be a little more disturbing to blow up, but that doesn't seem to be the case, thus far. Admittedly, this may to some degree be related to my concentrating far more on "getting" the "special" characters, and thus not concentrating overmuch on the "normal" characters.
While the black graphics are perhaps more stylish, and perhaps more tasteful, I do think that these work well.

Heh. Glad you like it. ^_^
Barney, Terminator? Due to copyright reasons, I cannot confirm (or deny) whether these characters exist in the game. *Wink ;)
I can say that there will definitely be lots of "familiar" looking faces in the game. ;) Including some "fictional" local people. Since this game is just made for fun, I doubt there will be a problem with that. I think the cartoon graphics works well and I'll probably use this style for the final game. Now I have to focus on the main part: Gameplay. :)
In the meantime, if theres anything else you'd like to see in the game. Just let me know.

*Cool. :)

I had the same problem, until I checked the URLs given on the download page, which indicated that it was an exe. It seems that the filename had been truncated to "The" - that is, up to the first space, and with no extension.
(This sort of thing is a good argument for using underscores, just in case, I think. ;P)

Heheh, I'm pretty confident that this would fall under parody or satire, which should be safe either way, I believe. ;)

Yeah. Evil Toaster told me the same thing. I'll fix it now. :) Yeah, this games pretty much a parody, a' la Robot Chicken.
I intend on creating a full cast of "familiar" faces to populate the world. I also plan on creating a flash version of the game in the future. :)

I really like the South Park styled graphics, its looking really nice. Good work. Keep at it! More levels!
Perhaps rewards for the amount of people you kill (that your twin suicidal terrorist cousin recieves from "the organization" for the next level), like cash, which allows you to buy bigger/more dynamic bombs (or things to lure people together) to suit different situations.

A quick update. The flash version of The Creeper is now in the works. I've asked forum member Afflict, to be the programmer for the game. Future updates will be done in flash and will be posted in this thread. One of our goals is to get the game published on the Mochi Ads* site. Something we are really excited about. I will keep everyone updated as development progresses. :)
*Which I think every aspiring flash game developer should check out . ;)

Will most likely finish it today :)

Wow made good progress on this today, Cyber and I were bashing some more ideas around and we should have some pretty neat things to show you soon :)

any help with graphics needed, dont mind asking me im open for helping you guys get further :)
great work so far edit:
i just played it again, its really cool but i dnt really like south park i preferred the original version graphics. Also, to have the ability (even in these tests) to play again is much cooler, restart the game at the intro if possible,
otherwise, i tried twice and got 9, win

Hey y'all. The game is coming along nicely. Afflict is doing an awesome job with the programming and we've now reached the 90% mark as far as functionality goes. We will be releasing test versions soon. The final game will be released on the 30 June 2008. Will keep everyone updated. :)

Cool, thanks for the input. We are using the "South Park" style as place holder art for now. I'll be redesigning the graphics completely, for the final game. =]
All those issues that plague the current game will be sorted out in the flash version. If response is good, we may even go the episodic route. ;)

More advanced version as promised :

* Working on the reload feature
* you have to reload the flash to reset it for now
* The second one is not that far developed yet.
* Constantly changing the code to be more optimized and slick.
* Walk in the first stage to be fixed.
* Have fun still waiting for the final gfx, so im not to worried about the animations etc. atm.

Thank you D4v1d, yeah there are loads more features to come & one more level... though I was brainstorming without senior Cyber Ninja today, and I think I might go in a different direction with the last level. But I want to discuss it with him, his missing in action till Friday.
He is also trying to complete the final GFX by Friday.
Anyway A REQUEST TO OUR LOYAL FANS ;)
If you have any particular features / suggestions that you would like to see in the game, please pm me. Or post them in here, also I know cyber was compiling a list of characters that we would all love to kill to feature in the game, if you have any specific requests, please let me know.
Hope you enjoyed the latest version, some bugs to sort out. You might notice the little man behind the creeper also in the bomb one that was me being lazy and just pasting the sprite over a normal character cause we have had no final gfx yet :P serves the purpose regardless.
Anyway I look forward to your comments / suggestions thanks.

Looking good Aff. A minor correction. The engine will be ready on friday. ;) Thereafter, we'll be focusing on polishing the gameplay mechanic and working out the bugs. With the final art and polish being left for last. So expect the final release date to be pushed back slightly.
We will, however, release a fully playable game (with the temp art) leading up to the final release.

It's looking pretty good, you two. ^_^
I particularly like the "crane" level - nicely "anvilicious" (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Anvilicious). ;)
... also I know cyber was compiling a list of characters that we would all love to kill to feature in the game, if you have any specific requests, please let me know.
Hmm... Jar Jar Binks comes to mind. It also might be fun to have Superman in there, perhaps as the only unkillable character (one might lose points for hitting Superman, or lose entirely as he saves the day).
Thinking of superheroes, it might be interesting to make Batman a potential target (perhaps a difficult one).
Unfortunately, nothing better comes to mind offhand (perhaps as a result of tiredness).
Anyway A REQUEST TO OUR LOYAL FANS (Emphasis mine)

Whoop whoop.
Sorry for double post and digging up an old thread. But its alive and well ;)
Secondly sorry about no update back when I promised one, but it will be pointless to release it as is now since it pretty much the final product.
Ok kewl the code is like 99% Everything is playable and functional. There is one more bug to sort out but its nearing the end & one or two tweaks to little things. But like I said the game play is 100% I recoded most of the AS and restructured everything.
Anyway Cyber is killing the final graphics, and organizing the sounds. Which will be implemented & then we will be done.
I'm pretty excited about releasing the final product. :)
