Since everyone's posting useful prototypes, who am I to not join in?

Download Deathbringer source code and resources (http://www.gamedev.za.net/filecloset/download.php?id=398)(1.6 MB. Game Maker 7 required)

If you've ever wondered how I put Deathbringer together, take a look. I hope my commenting is sufficient, but it should all look fairly straightforward. The game is not finished, and somehow I doubt it ever will be, but that doesn't stop anyone from picking some interesting tidbits from what there is. :) Post any questions you have here, and I'll do my best to answer.

I'm definitely going to grab this :)

People keep asking me how to do 3D in GM, now I can see what the implementation is like and mess with it a little. Thanks!

@Gazza_N: you've shown this before at the devLANs and it STILL rocks! It's the proof of the pudding that GM is indeed a powerful tool of devastating game creation.

Well, I hope it helps. ;)

Might I also request that if anybody can find better methods than the ones I've used, that they post them here? No reason why I can't learn a thing or two from this as well. The gods know that my code is hardly the best in the world :P

Your concern is touching, Cyber. Thanks. ;)

Look, the problem with Deathbringer is that I've spent so much time bumping my head up against making the whole 3D thing work properly that I've lost sight of how I want the game to feel and play. It's like Dis always warns us - make games, not engines. Focus on finishing something playable, don't screw around trying to make things look as impressive as possible. That's the trap I've fallen into here. Fortunately, I've learned plenty from it, and the least I can do is give the community an opportunity to learn from it as well.

But don't worry, asking me not to make Mech games is like asking me not to breathe. Once I come up with something solid, I'll try again, and this time I'll finish it. ;)
