Kind of good news, kind of sad that it came to that.

What I think is really really good is that it sets a precedent of protecting creators against thieves (well, that's my opinion).

It probably won't get rid of the rampant cloning on the AppStore, but maybe the clones will innovate just a little bit from now on.

I kind of feel bad for the guy spending all his time on this clone and having it taken off the market. His quality of the game seems higher :D not sure about the mechanics. Well he had it coming to him in any case :(

Also, not LoL, LoEH :P got a fright about League of Legends :)

I must say Im glad knowing that if someone steals my game (some time in the future when I want to make money off one) that I can do something about it.

I don't feel sorry for the guy at all. Everything he ever did was a clone, even once a paid clone of a free game. He's had this coming to him for a while (and all his two faced-ness and trying to convince QCF that the clone benefitted them and calling QCF immature did not win me over)

Of course Evolution would say that. He's a troll.

Don't feed the troll peeps :)

Is there any way to change the title of this thread to "League of Epic Heros Pulled", I feel kind of really stupid that in my vengeful fervour I typed it completely wrong...

Trolls are peoples too :)

I dunno... I've tried to rename it. My mod hax seem strangely different to normal though :(

Maybe I'm just having a bad day.

oh come one. now Evolution is a troll for feeling sorry for another person and not just taking the side of the majority here?

I too feel a little sorry for the guy. He did spend quite a bit of time on it. But ya.. I only feel a "teeny bit" sorry for him, especially after what edg3 said about him just cloning games.

Evolution has always been a troll. Was his avatar not obvious enough?

I don't know, isn't that rather like being sorry someone got caught? I mean, I'm upset that people have paid money for a game that's no longer supported, so it'll keep crashing on them. But that just makes me more annoyed with the guy who wasted his time exactly copying our work, that's something he willingly brought on himself.

How much do you know about this whole schpiel?

This guy kind of makes me think about those moths that imitate the markings of their poisonous cousins. It's all rainbows and butterflies till you get caught out and eaten alive.

But on a positive note, you know you've hit the big time when people start copying your work for money :) Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery after all.

His avatar sure is confusing, but there is a reason trolls are born.

I know as much as I've read. Seems he copied the core logic of DD, he still did have to write the code and spend days working on the game. If it where my game idea being copied I would also feel annoyed, no idea how I would react to it - would depend on the game.

But that is not the issue, I did not say what you guys did was wrong and I am not saying what he did was not wrong. I only said I too, like evolution, feel a bit sorry for the guy having spend so much time on it to be all for nothing now, especially being a developer myself and knowing the time that goes into creating games.

But now that I think about it, he might have pulled out cause the game was seeing less sales and he could not care less to fix the bugs if there was not going to be more sales.

That's my suspicion too, that the bugs in his clone had caused a fatal wound, and the only press he was getting was negative (and so he had no chance of getting a bump in sales if the bugs were fixed).

I haven't bothered looking into his stated reasons for pulling the game. He probably says he is doing the noble thing, or maybe that he is a victim, but he also said that making the game in the first place was good for QCF.

yeah, kinda weird logic the guy had there.

he said “Just wanted to let you know that as of today, I’ve removed LoEH for sale in all countries, following the copyright infringement notice I received from your lawyer.

“I apologise for all the issues this has caused, and wish you best of luck on your IGF nomination. Looking forward to the full version of Desktop Dungeons on iPhone.”

Theres a lot of news about it, CLEARLY we are not the only ones seeing what a bad move it stealing someone games.
If you walk into a swarm of bees knowing the consequences, you still chose to walk and you deserve all the negative stuff that comes with it.

Wow, that's sad. Why would someone take credit for someone else's idea, especially in game development. I thought we made games to materialize our imagination and be original, not leech of others. Sucks to be him.

I'm glad it got pulled. How many days was it on sale for?

<ot>

someone else's idea
There are no truly original ideas, only twists, turns and combinations of old ones.

By twisting and turning and combining ideas, you are in turn creating one.

Turns out he only pulled it because Apple sent him a letter. It was not AT ALL gracious.
