At last XNA Game Studio 3.0 is here!

XNA Game Studio 3.0 expands on all the offerings of earlier iterations to include additional functionality to appeal to game developers of every level and enable them to create games to distribute through Xbox LIVE Community Games on the Xbox 360 as part of the New Xbox Experience.

Our ultimate goal with XNA Game Studio 3.0 is to continue to provide easy-to-use, approachable tools for hobbyists, academics and indie game developers capable of producing the best games to be shared with the world on Xbox 360, Windows PC and Zune.

* Try Before You Buy: We?ve added a new Trial Mode to XNA Game Studio 3.0 that will enable creators to easily add the required trial feature to their games. This will enable all customers to try the games before they buy them with little effort on the part of the creator.
* Invite Friends: Now developers can easily take advantage of even more Xbox LIVE multi-player features like in-game invites. With this feature, developers can enable in-game invites allowing players to invite their friends to play their favorite multi-player community games.
* Visual Studio Integration: XNA Game Studio 3.0 supports C# 3.0, LINQ and most versions of Visual Studio 2008, giving developers more options than ever before.
* Even More New Features: With XNA Game Studio 3.0 game developers will be able to develop truly cross-platform games that work on Windows, Xbox 360 and Zune with minimal effort and the new upgrade wizard helps creators easily port their games from 2.0 to 3.0 to make them compatible with Xbox LIVE Community Games. We?ve also added 1-click installation of Windows games, and automatic asset compression of content to improve download times. All together, XNA Game Studio 3.0 improves on experiences for both developers and gamers.

XNA Game Studio 3.0 is required to submit games to Xbox LIVE Community Games. Visit our Quick Start guide if you'd like to know more about how to submit your game.

It is important to begin submitting your game for playtesting and peer review as early as possible to be sure they'll be available to the millions of Xbox LIVE gamers at the launch of the New Xbox Experience on November 19!

What are you waiting for? Start downloading XNA Game Studio 3.0 now!

Spent most of the afternoon getting SpaceHack over onto GS3. Can finally get back to work on the controls for PC and res issues again. Aeq's still installing away.

You have to download Visual C# Express 2008 as well... Once you get everything installed, the upgrade process is relatively painless, just remember to delete all your bin and obj directories on converted projects or you won't be able to deploy to Xbox. Also, GS3 seems to do something arb in the deploy process which my firewall blocks, solved by allowing all coms to its MAC address.

Trying to see what Compact Framework 2.0 does better, I'm hoping it'll give us better floating point support instead of just doing loads of Zune-related stuff.

One thing I do like is the one click Windows install option for games now. Yay.

We were a bit quiet at work around christmas and I had some time to update my game engine to XNA 3.0 and add a bit of meat to it :)

Check it out:

and here:

I wanted to make a indoor multi-player third person shooter, but I'm thinking of changing the engine to something else. Maybe a "wipeout" sorta game in which you race for money, which you can use to upgrade your ship or add weapons ... donno still thinking ;)

Take care!
