So I was browsing and happened to land upon IGF's website. They have a student section. Its free to enter and I thought what the heck, there is no reason I should not, not enter.

http://www.igf.com/rules_student.html

This is the only part that might cause a bit of a hiccup.

Each Student Finalist will be required to exhibit his or her Student Showcase Selection at the Conference. Exhibition duties will include: (i) staffing a Conference booth; (ii) demonstrating the Student Showcase Selection during specified hours; and (iii) conducting oneself in a manner that upholds the good name and reputation of Sponsor, the Conference, and the Contest. Sponsor will provide one (1) display pod at the Conference for each Student Finalist, which will consist of a counter, a 21" monitor, speakers, hook-ups for electricity and Internet connectivity, and signage indicating the name of the Student Finalist and the name of the Student Showcase Selection. Each Student Finalist will be expected to supply his or her own computer, console, or other platform required to display his or her Student Showcase Selection, along with any additional hardware necessary to operate the Student Showcase Selection.

Soo... I dont see why not? I am sure those at uni like Chippit and Nandrew can also enter National Defense 2 and Glyph Hunter? + all you other student peeps.

Entering would be pretty cool. Thing is, what kind of calibre game are we looking at as an entry?

Check on the website what games were in top 12 last year and you will see.

Hmm, well, for a student like me who is using his friends GM 6.1 code, R700 is a fair bit of cash!!! Especially when you have a girlfriend :P

Classic placement of the question mark, there.

I really should enter more competitions, but I think I'm going to focus for now on *trying* to enter more Game.Dev ones. The fact that I've never gone beyond a scraggly prototype for the cash comps is shameful.

As another note -- student showcase is awesome to look at. Nice.
