Hey all

I have just moved up to Durban end of last year and one thing I am really excited about is the prospect of attending one of the many hotlabs that game.dev has hosted here in the past.

Any chance you will be doing one in the near future Dis? I am even willing to say that I will raise the funds neccessary to bring you guys down. :P That is how desperate I am hehe.

Great to have another eager dev'er in Durbs! :D

I don't think there will be any hotlabs soon as far as I know. I don't think MushiMushi works at IT Intellect(he was our inside man) anymore so we don't really have a venue. I've been investigating venues lately for a devlan but haven't had any luck, a lot of places for example Westville library have rooms they hire out but unfortunately are a bit iffy with lan'ers and their PC's for some reason :/

Maybe if you could also look into possible venues as well and if we can get a successful devlan to happen in Durban then we coax dislekcia down ;)

Good idea Skink, I just remembered seeing one of the professors at Westville did a thesis on game programming so there could be a very good chance there :)

That'd be Prof Alan Amory. I've worked with him a little... It'd be a good idea to approach them and say you'd like a place to be able to host regular DevLans. Feel free to supply my email addy to interested parties :)

Well, I am in my second year now of my Bsc in software engineering through CTI. I know that they have massive network areas, maybe we can get them to accomodate us :P

Great, thanks dis.
CTI could be another good possibility as they do have LANs there so they shouldn't be against us bringing our PC's.
My lectures start again on the 11 Feb and I've only just transferred to Westville after spending the last 2 years at the PMB campus so it might take me a while to get to know the lecturers and place before I ask so yeah it will be a while until I can get something.

Ok, I finally got back to campus but I cant find Matthew. :( I am going to have to travel down to Dbn North to get hold of him. Anyway, I did however speak to a few of the other lecturers and they sounded pretty interested in more info.

@Dis: Is there maybe an info packet you have that I can give to them to explain it better? :)
