Hey all!

Sorry for being a bit late in setting up the thread this time around, I guess my cooldown period after the previous month was a bit extensive. ;)

I hope that everybody is recharged and refreshed after the weekend, and even if you're not ... well, we've still got an awesome pubbie coming up this week, so hooray for that!

This month isn't going to be a mind-blowing issue, though it should still be cool. Basically, I'm looking to fill up a reasonable quota of pages, give the readers the regular goods ... BUT, we're working for this month based on next month as well -- the rAge issue.

In some ways, this is going to be Dev.Mag 16/17 prep, because I want to have a smashing issue get launched at rAge 2007. This may mean holding over some of the juicier content, getting a higher amount of submissions for the next month (I'd like to see *everyone* write *something*, no matter how small, even if it's just an opinion!) and basically just chill out this month and build up for the next.

For now, here's a few things that I can suggest and mention regarding content and other fun stuff:

(1) Silly, silly. We didn't have a review of Silent_Bob's UT40K mod in Issue 15, which would've made PERFECT sense, but didn't cross my mind at the time (I blame the rush). So, we're gonna have a review in this issue. I've played the mod myself, and it's pretty fun, so I can recommend that anybody with a respectable connection download this thing and try it out. And then gimmeh at least 300-400 words on it. ;)

(2) Fuzzyspoon mentioned now (like, right now, in a chat, now. Now) that it may be a cool idea to set up a few pages dedicated to profiling a huge wad of Game.Dev members. I think this would be a really sweet Tailpiece for the rAge edition, and I'm basically looking at: (A) A piccie (avatars will do fine, if you want) and (B) some answers to a few short questions regarding personal details (like names and stuff, no credit card details -- relax) and some game-related questions. I want this to show that there's a strong community behind Game.Dev and its mag, so as many people can apply for this profile section as they want -- as long as you consider yourself a game developer of any level, you're welcome. ;) Feedback will be needed on this idea, please, so that I can see if it's worth drafting the questions.

(3) I've got one or two interview / feature ideas for the next two editions, but I need more to juggle with so that I can decide what to put in which issues. So, please -- ideas, brilliant suggestions and volunteering needed! Watch this space, too. :P

That's all for now, I have to run off for a bit. Good luck and have fun this issue! We're looking to have a bit of a chill time before the proverbial "Big One"!

I have started my Beginners articles (Crash - Movement and Collisions). Also got an extra as well to include.

Got an opinion piece I want to do. (I seem to have a lot of opinions)

I've been interviewed in the Mag already, do you still want a profile thingy - if so where the questions (we can each do our own bit).

rAge issue - will also have all three bits - Opinion, Beginners (Paths) and Beginers Extra. Actually it might be more fun to do Particles as the Special edition for the rAge edition.

I've got the third and final part of Game Dev with Trig coming up, where I try to cram as many implementations of trig in as possible ;). I may also write an opinion piece, but don't hold me to that - my idea is still in its fuzzy embryonic stage.

I think the member profiles are a great idea. It'll make prospective members feel more at home when they join, and perhaps teach existing members a thing or two about each other. Now, to begin, my credit card number is...

Well, usual is 14th, so I'll need requests for extensions if that be the case.

I'm aiming to get mine in by the 14th, but it shouldn't be any later than next Friday (17th). That's a worst-case.

We totally need more minotaurs and dinosaurs in games, especially if you cross-pollinate them.

Hey Nandrew, haven't been around these forums for too long but I'd like to get involved with the mag if possible. Are there any particular articles you guys are looking for? Game-related algorithms? Reviews? Discussions?

Funny you should say that ...

Well, look, for the time being, you're welcome to write a 300-400 word opinion column. We regularly open ourselves to public submissions for that. Then we can take it from there, unless you have any particularly gripping proposals. ;) That's generally how it works from here.

But, well, what I also meant to say now is that we have a hole this month in terms of a much-needed Blue Pill article. Refer to the previous two issues for an idea of what these are like. If you can whip up a decent word count on a decent game creation tool that follows the style of these articles, then sure, a submission would be heartily welcomed!

Ack.

Guys, we've had some holes and quite a few very late submissions this month (which have all kinda piled onto the late bus at the same time), so the release of the mag has been pushed back a bit. We're doing our best to get it out on time, but I'm not entirely sure that's going to happen.

I have to stress the necessity for articles arriving on time. If you've sent your stuff in late -- keep in mind now that you're actually not the only one slipping past like this, and it really does bring things to a grinding halt when we can't get subs in on time.

Moreover, there have been one or two individuals who have been quite frankly ignoring my recent attempts at communication. And I'm quite sure those people know who they are already, because I find it *highly* unlikely that they've missed all of my attempts at contact. <_<

Blegh. Guys, I really, really don't want to be a hardass about this. However, late submissions == me going spare, since a 14-day window turns into a less-than-a-week crunch if there's too much late stuffs. I'm aware that people are busy at times, but it's particularly important for you to get a submission in if you've already promised me an article, and being regularly late is starting to become a hassle. :(

Please consider this for the rAge issue, which will absolutely HAVE to be out before next month's end.

Thanks.

Nandrew, could you send me the content that you have received, soon? I've already reached my cap this month. So I need it before I get cut off. :(

Guys, time management. Seriously, it will help alot. Even if you just set aside 30mins (a day) to work on your articles, you will meet the deadline. Just 30mins in the evenings, try it. Maybe it will help.
