Little puzzle for a concept i'm playing around with. If the above does not display correctly, then your unicode is broken. Think of this as a programming challenge. I'll reveal the text when i finish a prototype, alternatively you can try figure it out now. The web isn't going to help you here i'm afraid. Plenty of text to _______ converters out there, but few to get it back. I though about making the puzzle harder, but i realized that this is probably dam difficult as it is.

Take this as an opportunity to edumacate yourself about _______ ;p

No hints and spoilers, please direct questions about decoding the text to my inbox. Please keep the thread open for discussing the game itself. You may post the full message when you decode it.

I'm hoping that people will get interested in this and that that will get them to spend more time thinking about the game when i get something out there.

First line reads: ?ngratulati?ns.

Was the converter you used a bit iffy perhaps?

Im afraid it was. My java application that i built suddenly refuses to output the correct answer, multiple web converts pages failed to load. It looked right for the most part.

EDIT: I see the error now, the editor offered a unicode version, and although the original is correct, it messed up the unicode version slightly. I hope its still legible =/

Once this dam university network makes up its mind, i'll run it through some other websites. Or port my java application to delphi (which sounds like hard work)

In fact, that first character's not even an 'o'. :P It's backwards.

This does remind me of a series of similar puzzles in Pokemon Sapphire/Ruby, though.

Also, seems a few lines dropped their starting characters, not just the first.

Indeed, it's not an o, it's an ?, as found in the... extended set.

So how do I fix my unicode?

Oh, my mistake. I wasn't even aware an... extended set existed at all, actually. I thought it always used prefix characters for stuff like that. I am educated!

All I get is those squares; what do I do to get proper unicode support?
