Right: no exclamation marks, no shocking premises, here's a real game for you guys to test.

Gears of War: The Minesweeper
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
The Gears of War Minesweeper has been labelled as a copyright infringement by my file host (more details here (http://forums.tidemedia.co.za/nag/showpost.php?p=234277&postcount=48)) and isn't available for download anymore.
I suggest that any interested parties look at Onslaught of the Electric Zombies (http://forums.tidemedia.co.za/nag/showthread.php?t=11460) instead. It's GOW Minesweeper's spiritual successor, and is basically better in every way *anyway*.
This was going to start out as a Gears of War dungeon crawl or Roguelike, but then I decided that I wanted to keep dev time low and searched for something simpler. Then halfway through gamecrafting, I played some Weird Worlds and it took another strange twist from there. So now Gears of War is a Minesweeper clone with some interesting perks.
The rules for discovering enemies are the same as a standard minesweeper. But this is a score-based game rather than a time-based one: you get points for "stepping on mines" (or fighting locust) and you have a health bar that steadily regenerates over time. On top of that, you can pick up numerous items along the way which will somehow help or hinder you, and are all rooted firmly in Gears canon.
So you have to kill as many locust as possible in a given session: you won't necessarily complete the grid, and you won't necessarily kill all of your enemies, but your goal is to maximise those two values as much as is practically possible.

My personal high score is 388 (I think I have it recorded on the high-score table because I forgot to wipe it after my last few plays. Oops.). Let me know how y'all do.
