Dislekcia isn't mentioned in the article he's just the pretty face; the "poster child" if you will of game development :P

That's what I look like when I'm concentrating... Think the pic was from the GH3 competition 2 rAges ago.
The article in general talks about indie (and casual, which they make an odd distinction over) being the way to go in SA, so can't be too harsh on them. I do have to wonder what the various courses are like, but I guess we'll find out at rAge :)

I am keen to find out at rAge about how far they're going with Unity

I've been chatting with Gustavo a fair bit about Learn3D's courses. He's headed in the right direction but I know he's open to ideas and would dig to chat to anyone with knowledge and experience about the industry. Especially the local scene. You guys should definitely go and have a chat to him this weekend.

The article is meh at best. No mention of what has actually been done in SA. If nothing else I checked out the Learn 3D site, and would actually be interested in it. AD Game Programming, err I don't know.
Personally I wouldn't mind kicking the Star writer in the shins.
And dis is pretty poster child even with the I'm concentrating on epic guitar hero skillz face.

Well, what's being done doesn't matter as much. They're right on the general gist of things, although the random distinction between casual and indie (according to their definitions) is rather odd.
We should get behind stuff that's going to make a positive difference to the local game development scene, so that's why I'm keen to see what's happening at their stand at rAge. Might have to bust out the GM "game in 45 minutes" thing ;)

The rAge "mini-comp"? Didnt that used to be an hour :P Also, having shorter time limits tends to help people keep focus on their final product.

Last time I checked Gas Powered Games considered themselves an Indie studio... So Gustavo is not the only one who is confused.
It's about time there was a dedicated, practical orientated course for making games in SA. I mean one that gets artists and programmers collaborating and studying under one roof and teaming up on projects. I'm quite excited about this, hope it catches on.
