I have never wanted to read something about calculus so much in my life.

This is wrong! anime fanboys shouldn't be capable of being productive members of society. Theirs is a life doomed to the basement of their parents house glued to the tv screen.

We know this because us computar geeks see them in our basements all the time.

So do I. But I do have a loft which is just as good I guess.

It's harder to hide kidnapped artists in a loft. ;)

I can only imagine...
Miko: Onoez! There's a giant tidal wave approaching Tokyo! It'll kill us all!
Hiro Protagonist: Not so fast! If we knew the exact volume of water in that wave, we could fire off our Ossumech's SUPER ROCKET PUNCH with enough force to counteract it!
Miko: HOW DO WE DO THAT? We're doooooooooooooooooooomed!
Hiro: Why, using integral calculus, of course!
But in seriousness, this is great. It's certainly more appealing than sitting through a calculus lecture, that's for sure.

You can use maths to save mankind! I must report this to the league of evil at once and make maths appear boring and useless so children can't use it against our diabolical schemes.

It may seem obvious to us, such a move towards making learning more contemporary in it's presentation and packaging, but for a great many people the idea seems bizarre. "Why bother with this, when regular textbooks worked just fine for me?", and so fourth.
It's no small irony that the biggest roadblock towards improving learning for kids, are adults who have already learned and think that how they did it was "good enough", and any changes are just watering things down or obfuscating things.
