I had an idea this morning for a Star Fox type on-rails flying game so I spent about 2 hours this morning in Unity playing with a prototype. I'm really happy with the results and I thought I'd share

Thats pretty need, its like a 3D hyped up version of Paper Airplane (a good thing).

Any plans for where this is going to evolve?

Ooooh! Rails for the win!

It's simple, so far, but this has promise. It has a very nice retro feel and I can imagine it turning out really sweet (when I play this initial prototype I pretend I'm entering the Death Star but suffer from short term memory loss and keep finding myself in the middle of the tunnel about to crash. Maybe the I've got memory loss because I've been eating those blue pills you stuck in the level).

It also makes me think to Reckless Disregard for Gravity, which innovated (casualafied) somewhat on this style of gameplay (pickup bonuses, points for wall hugging, increasing speed etc).

I'm hoping this turns into a XWing Entering Into A Giant Spaceship Simulation Where You Get To Shoot Stuff That Is In Your Way. Also this could really work with an accelerometer (I'm just saying, accelerometer and one button for shoot).
