It's not the most original of ideas, but I think I can make it interesting enough.

Description:

Just like the source I made and posted here a while ago this will be a DDR(Dance Dance revolution) type game. It will, just like the source, include a creature that has to dance in sync to the music. Dancing perfectly will gain you rewards and more songs to dance to.

Questions:

Can the game look like the image above? i.o.w may I use a phone picture as a "frame" of sorts making it look like playing on a phone? Or should the resolution of the window be exactly that of a cellphone screen?

This is all I can muster out of my mind right now(The awesomeness of Assassin's Creed is too great), so if I think of something else it might replace this idea.
Will be using GM7.

Any comments, questions or suggestions are welcome. Thanx

more info and proto soon...

Just a sidenote: In order to play the game you need to push "enter" at the main menu and the * button on the keypad to "continue. Will be fixed in next version. Sorry.

Next:

Music
Fix graphical glitch (When pressing one of the buttons a white line appears above the character)
more to be added later

All questions, comments suggestions welcome :)

How are you planning to time the moves with the music? Will it be randomized or will you write a specific 'sequence' for each song?

Off topic, how cool would it be to have Audiosurf on your mobile!

I'm planning to do the 'sequence' thing, but that may be aiming too high. I'll see once I have a prototype(This will hopefully be tomorrow night around this time.) :)

I think you can do either, so the choice is yours. The idea sounds cool btw.

Thanx, it immediately jumped into my mind. Feel free to use the frame thing if anyone wants to. No tm or Copyright :p

[UPDATE]

The basic controls are nearly finished, I just want to know if the arrows are moving too fast.
Thanx

Ok, I had a very quick play through and here are my comments.

1. Spell check ;) It is spelt rhythm - I know its a minor thing but it makes a word of difference
2. I love the dancing lady, perhaps you could have a man or woman... ie a character select
3. The arrows move too fast :( What if you tried making them come from the bottom up, ie vertical like DDR (I am sure Miktar and dislekcia can comment more on this)
4. Er, does the game end? Without the music I dunno how long I have to go :p

It is a great start, I like it :D

1) Fixed :D

2) I'll look into that, I'll fiddle around with SimPose some more to see if I can get a guy. (It's hard as hell to load a Sim into SimPose)

3)The arrows will be slower, however I think the Screen might be too busy when doing it like DDR(As Thaum mentioned in the Source thread)

4) It's the first version so it doesn't end. It's just to test the controls, looks etc.

Thanx, I'm glad you do. I'm looking into making the music with MixCraft rather than using known music.

I need some thoughts on this:

As you dance you gain dance points (1 for every correctly synchronized move), this unlocks either of the following:

option 1

Each song is split into three pieces, you unlock these pieces by dancing. i.o.w the menu might look like this: songs are just made up names

Dance points: 30

The lonely man Part 1 - Unlocked

The lonely man Part 2 - LOCKED (35 POINTS NEEDED TO UNLOCK)

The lonely man Part 3 - LOCKED (40 POINTS NEEDED TO UNLOCK)

Insert multiple songs etc. etc. etc.

--------------------

OR

OPTION 2

Just the normal unlocking of songs also via the dance points. For Example:

Dance Points: 30

The lonely man - Unlocked

My World - Unlocked

Scientific Discovery - LOCKED (NEED 35 POINT TO UNLOCK)

Insert more songs etc. etc.

--------------------

Thoughts?
