I've recently been having some trouble with accessing FileCloset, and seem to have discovered a solution. Since others might be having similar problems (and to make others aware of the potential problem), I decide to describe both the problem and a solution that seems to work for me.
Simply put, when attempting to access FileCloset via the link that I have in my bookmarks (which I'm pretty sure is the link that I generally use), I end up with the error "Firefox can't find the server at gamedev.openhazel.co.za". There is very little delay in the arrival of this message, so the browser doesn't seem to be struggling to connect.
The link that I had was http://gamedev.openhazel.co.za/filecloset/
This seems to also apply to my Hanging Gardens download link in my Competition 18 thread, although it looks as though the links given from within FileCloset should work.
The solution (or at least a solution that has worked for me) seems to be to simply use the URL http://www.gamedev.za.net/filecloset/index.php instead.

I seem to be having a problem again, I'm afraid, and I'm hoping that someone will have a suggestion for me.
I've been attempting to upload a game of mine in two parts (to avoid the file size restriction). The first part uploaded correctly, it would seem, but FileCloset seems for some reason to be steadfastly refusing to accept the second part. Specifically, it appears to be uploading (there appears to be traffic), and after some time (enough to seem reasonable for an upload of this size), the file listing appears, as per usual... but the new file isn't there.
This second part is, like the first, a zip file, and is under 10MB big (it's a little over 8MB, I believe). I've tried waiting (including a period of more than 24 hours, I think), I've tried renaming the file, I've tried re-navigating to the file's location, and I've tried moving the file to another folder.
Does anyone have any idea of what might be wrong, and/or some solution that I might try? :/

Could be the link. I and a lot of people I've spoken to have been having trouble with slow international links for the past couple of days, so I'd guess (assuming that you're having the same speed problems) that the upload's timing out.

large files are a pain to upload, all I can suggest is split it into 4 parts
to try get in under the timeout problem.

Aha! It works! Thank you very much indeed, guys! ^_^
The game is now up in three parts.
I'm guessing that part one was just small enough to not result in a timeout, as it wasn't much smaller than part two.
You know, given the issues raised in this thread, I feel that it bears saying: even given the occasional issue, I'm really grateful that we have FileCloset available to us.

i tried to open a link from the past but it said it didn exsist... i had to remove the "openhazel.co" and add a "www. ... .net" to access the file!
i guess they changed something?

It does indeed look like it. It's odd, but thankfully the solution doesn't seem to be terribly problematic. ^_^

I think that it's d- -b, isn't it? (If I have his name correct - it looks something like that, as I recall, although I've confused his name for another before, as I recall. ^^; )
