Does anyone on this forum use the 3D modelling tool blender?
I use it quite fluently and am looking for a small job or to help with something along the lines of that

Blender files can be loaded directly into Unity3d (Gazza and I used Blender for our Thoef game) and there are a bunch of pre-defined scripts for controlling things like the player. If you're keen to experiment, it's free and there are a lot of tutorials available

Yeah, Blender supports most native formats for export.

.obj will be the best for static objects, it carries the same vertex order and UV's.
.fbx is the best for animations, since it preserves animation data, weights etc. although I'm not sure how well Blender's exporter supports these.

All *good engines support .obj and .fbx at the least.

Blender can't import FBX files. (It can export them though.) Some licensing issue, afaik.
