So, I lost my streak today, and it makes my 3 out of 4 losses at this same location, the Shifting Passages.

Once, I lost after killing all bosses, was mopping up lower level creeps but got stuck when spawned walls closed me in (I was partly to be blamed also since there were many stoned plants, was under EM).

Another time, I lost as Rat Monarch.

Today, I lost, I was at level 3, and stuck between a level 7 Changeling and the Matron boss, closed in after a kill, no other way to get out.

Maybe, I was in a rush, since there's not much time left (and I wasn't looking at the big picture of the walls spawning), but then again it could just be bad luck.

Just had to rant, guess I have to start all over again, thought I could go further.

Well, a lot of people lost on that Rat Monarch run. There were a total of 8 people who won that day, making it the deadliest daily to date.

Shifting Passages and Labyrinth are responsible for the most frustrating deaths imaginable. Being walled-in is a terrible way to die. :(

Onwards to today, 19/06/2015. I always hate Grimm's Grotto, but it seems this one has a 90% win rate for now. Pretty good item spawn for all kinds of different strategies. Plus opening PISORF and a helpful secret subdungeon.

Also I clicked a lvl 4 Golem right at the beginning of the game. Thank God for Fighter Death Protection. :?

Hmmm, not sure I like the fighter + Grimm's combination. Since Fighter has no combat stats and Grimm's is sort of like a Normal VT dungeon, it can be hard to do anything other than murder popcorn all day sometimes. On an easier dungeon, at least you could kill things in the +1 or +2 level range without trouble.

Throw in another (belated) victim of the Shifting Passages daily; I managed to characteristically forget to watch my piety and got myself punished by Mysteria... and then that got me into a position where I just got cornered sloppily and racked up two more punishments trying to get out. 60% resistances on everything ended that run, and a good streak, fairly quickly.

At least it made sure I double checked my piety every time this round. A little risky to go into Taurog like I did, but it paid off when I found a GETINDERE. Plus I had the blue scroll to open up the bonus subdungeon.

Grimm's Grotto can be a little risky at the beginning because of its tendency to cut off exploration with powerful monsters and generally high stat modifiers, but a few steps in having found both PISORF and Tomithy as the boss I was confident this would be straightforward. I went for Parched and Unstoppable.

As for the leaderboard I'm back in the top 10 8-)

I started Platemail/Sticky Stick and found HALPMEH+PISORF pretty early. The boss was Tomithy, so I did a complete 180 and converted (almost) everything so I could fight him with Battlemage Ring. Even a Dwarf Fighter can get some decent bonus XP kills with HALPMEH/Sticky Stick/Platemail. It was pretty satisfying and smooth to convert everything for a big CP bonus right before leveling. I also saved Mystic Balance for the boss fight, holding off until then because PISORF was better with Sticky Stick when I was leveling.
