Made a pretty nasty misclick mid-game that cost me a 4-level difference kill and a lot of blackspace to fix the problem. My time suffered tremendously as I had to play very cautiously from that point onwards. Didn't kill me, though, so as far as misclicks go I'll take it.

Surprised how few people took Jehora today. Mystera and the Dwarven Gauntlets were both very tempting and I admit even I had to think it over, but in the end I concluded that Chaos Avatar is just too good to pass up in this dungeon. If you use it before the Itsssama battle the resistance wipe is awesome, if you use it after the weakening wipe is awesome, and you can time it in between for the best of both worlds. Plus the corrosion wipe is just plain useful with those creepers around. The Dwarven Gauntlets are nice, but Boost Health will give you more HP sooner and being a human with wisp gems on the ground attack bonus is a diminishing return. I combined this with Earthmother for a guaranteed 30 piety to launch me to chaos avatar smoothly. Really helps when you're sitting at 80 piety - if you don't spend your piety you're going to overflow 100 and start wasting it, but if you do spend it right now you might not be able to hit chaos avatar when you need it. Having a desecration in the bank solves this problem completely.

Anyways, I started the Itsssama fight at level 6, leveled up to level 7, then finished him with a chaos avatar to level 8. I then poison-fought Firstborn with the remaining blackspace. Annoyingly I hit a vampire on the very last tile, but I had enough popcorn and potions to finish with resources to spare.

That was an interesting run. I made one stupid mistake but still won. I was busy fighting Itsssamna, and was 5 xp from dinging lvl 7. Instead of munching some popcorn to ding and then use CA afterwards, I used CA immediately. I basically wasted one whole level which nearly cost me the run. I managed to get 50 piety, changed over to EM and fireballed The Firstborn to death. Too close for comfort.

EDIT: I only noticed the mistake because I had recorded the run and was reviewing it. Good way to learn from your mistakes, I guess.

I went for the slightly odd Mystera, Patches, Quest Items and Magnet: Fireball setup. Worked out though it was somewhat tighter than I'd have expected JJ to be. I had 50 piety saved up for the GG conversion and 19 mana (just shy of what I was hoping for but the magic damage popcorn was expensive and patches gave me more gold and less mana than would have been ideal), so I had more than enough left over in terms of resources. Ultimately I only needed the potions to finish off Itsamna.

Yeah, the 100 club is on the verge of hitting three members, including an overthrow of our goat overlord.

Meanwhile, Kawaii-Face is threatening to push me even farther down page 1 of all-time streaks...

Elf Bloodmage, Grimm's Grotto

This level's shtick, if you don't know it already: All monsters have buffed stats. It's almost like Vicious Token Den of Danger.

Anyway, boss-race-class combo was really friendly. APHEELSIK-BURNDAYRAZ-BLUDTOPOWA really encourages going a little too crazy with blackspace, but I still saved some. Not that I needed it - Keg O' Mana empowered by Elf-Mystera-Bloodmage's mana potion efficiency was plenty on its own, and I didn't feel the least bit like derping around for another 10 minutes trying to earn Parched, even if I had some blackspace and a dozen or so blood pools and a Fire Heart.

This run is sort of a poster child for Elf Bloodmage, all things considered. Not that it's easy, because Grotto's buffed monsters are always a bit much to grind through, but it was about as smooth as it was going to get.

On top of that, hitting the ground running with Flame Magnet-Mystera-Mana Booster preps is super convenient.
