Behold, the power of the HALPMEH Rogue:

Scumming for HALPMEH and a Soul Orb is quite tedious, I'll have you know. Dragon Shield + Taurog + Dracul gets your resists up to just under 50%, which when combined with absurd attack power makes for one heck of a regen fighter. Strong enough that I was able to do it with about a dozen tiles left over and about 50 piety with JJ (reserved for Last Chance, if I had actually needed it), even with some phenomenally dumb mistakes on my part, like converting to GG then converting out while forgetting to take Humility, or blundering my way through one of the floors looking for the stairs before realizing that both stairs had spawned on the same tile.

Nice Job. I was trying that one a bit.

Did you use RBS, or was the first strike more important (and please don't tell me you sucumed for a blacksmith dungeon to appear)? Also did you use Mana -> Health to survive those wizards. I was considering succuming for a death protection and a healing glyph with Health -> Mana and grabbing the death protection just for those wizards.

I tried gorgon a few times, and I swear I almost had it if I could get past those wizards (death gaze is kind of wonkey, it works, but doesn't petrify level 10s, and if your enemy's HP falls under your attack you auto win without taking damage).

A wizard might be possible if you can manage to get healing, blood to power, and a soul orb in one go. All in all, looks like we are making this "impossible" vicious dungeon seem to be on par with the vicious dungeons

I took Mana -> Health and the +10% damage medal, along with Quest Items, a Compression Scroll, and +Gold instead of Patches (although the Smuggler's Den might have been a better choice). The warlocks actually went down with little trouble - Taurog's helmet provided enough resistance for me to take one hit and they went down in two, which thanks to first strike actually made them easier than the Meat Men. There was a subdungeon, but I either never found ENDISWAL or converted it early on, so I don't know what was in it; I thought about scumming for subdungeons, but that just adds too many variables (and you'll consume even more tiles looking for it, rather than leaving the walls hidden until the end). Oh, and I had one other embarrassing mistake; I found and bought a Tower Shield but converted it well before the boss because my inventory was too full. In hindsight, that was... sub-optimal. Agnostic Collar was the only other bought item that was of much use.

I'm not sure if Gorgons could pull it off - in case you missed the dev's explanation, death gaze is quite a bit weaker than it was in the alpha. +100% damage (more like +200% since it ignores resists) is nice, and combined with poison strike and phys resist should still be enough to take out Horatio, but it will be a significant challenge to get to him (especially without exhausting all available tiles).

Wow... the devs overrated this dungeon...

Is it just me, or have the monster classes spurred tons of new Vicious strategies? I have found at least 5 for both naga city and dragon isles, and now here's 5 for Gaan-Telet (Transmuter, Monk, Paladin, Rogue, and Wizard)!
We made an expansion and it is awesome. Really, you should check it out, especially if you're looking for some extra challenge.
