I planned for Whupaz going in. I learned the trick a long time ago from the DERP page of the Wiki, where it mentions it for exactly this class/dungeon combo. There was another Half-Dragon in the Magma Mines not too long ago which refreshed my memory on it... but the position there allowed for more flexibility in solutions. Still, if you weren't preparing for him early, you were going to lose.

I decided to try running up my XP a bit today, and have first spot. But it wasn't optimal other than in my timing of CA... over 400 is definitely possible. Other than that at the end, I was mono-EM.

I just straight up bombed Half-Dragon and absorbed all my blackspace when I barely hit level 6. Something felt wrong, and I think it's that while the Half-Dragon usually has a great start, I was struggling with damage output and mana use. Taurog was available but my mind was elsewhere, not even thinking about chaining death protections until a few levels in.

That was a lot closer than it should have been... got myself over cursed early and trapped on the other side, getting worn right down by the Shade. But when I came back with the Dragon Soul, things looked good again.



If I had known those were there, I would have skipped the midboss.
