@gjaustin: The worrying thing about the calculation is the monk pulls ahead by 40 or so, without including he gets more per hp potion, he has double regen, etc. So when the monk is in his preferred atmosphere he is like a god.

As for Taurog, just taking the 5% off Unstopable Fury sounds great.

I still think that that sort of straightforward strategy (or one with little meaningful decisions, if you want to put it pessimistically) still has a place in the game. It's still not immediately obvious to less experienced players, and the discovery of strategies like this may very well serve as a drive for players to look for even more strategies, particularly when they realize that there are plenty of scenarios that the monkrog can't just blatantly steamroll (which I think are more than what you're giving credit for).

As for the Unstoppable Fury nerf, though I'm not outright opposed against it, I still fail to understand exactly what it would accomplish.

Basically, monkrogs precast unstoppable fury for solid level ups in the exploration phase. You can get an extra 25-30% damage bonus, which is HUGE for a monk.

What Avatar said. Getting 10% out of two "spammed" Unstoppable Fury completely eliminates the -30% damage part of Monks balancing, and the skullpicker gets rid of half of -2 damage per level, with 3 conversions getting you rid of the other half (no effort or separate decisions, you're converting all the glyphs anyway). And more Unstoppable Fury rather effortlesly boosts a Monk (who's by that point been rid of all his innate balancing further), but that's not even necessary. He has that att penalty for a reason, 50% phys + 75% cap + 2Xblackspace value is incredible, and going for a warmonger Taurog strat leaves him above average or average even against magic monsters (because of the 2X res and all the other preps and Taurog perks). In so many words.

Without the bonus on Unstoppable Fury, he'd be getting 20% from Taurog and still be disadvantaged slightly against magic users, which is more then fine considering he is a monster against phys. This way he needs to find more attack / damage somewhere else or actually pay attention to what he is doing. Maybe.

Also, when they originally put the bonus on unstoppable rage, my first reaction was: "Whait, this must be a bug". Then it turned out it wasn't, so I said: "Fine, lets see if I'm right about it", picked monk to try it out, "discovered" the strat, destroyed a couple of challenging stuff with it, and decided not to use it anymore because it was certanly getting fixed at some point on account of being really, really too good and also quite boring.

I'm with the don't-see-what-the-nerf-would-achieve crowd (as others, I don't see why to avoid nerfing it, but also don't really see why the bonus from unstoppable fury is such a problem). It works fine for non-monks, a bit good for monks but not actually inordinate. Prepped Taurog won't be any less naturally suited to monks if you take the unstoppable fury boost away, you just promote converting out. Again, you can still have some very tough but doable scenarios with a Monkrog... (Havendale with ZK and Firstborn nearly beat me) as well as some easy ones (Phys bosses)... if you're willing to roll with it on challenging loadouts, it can still be an interesting game.
