Today's Elf Tinker looked like there was some sort of catch coming so I felt like I played it really really slow... Nope, no catch, it's one of those super easy ones it seems.
I almost got pwned by Shifty Brickwork!

Elves I like better than Gnomes. Had more fun with today's daily. Never needed Mystera - I intended to use her as desecration fodder right before chaos avatar, but my piety level was such that it was unnecessary. First time I've bothered to go for Unstoppable in a daily in ages.

Took Balanced Dagger instead of Flame Magnet for my early level insurance. Took me way too long to find fireball. Shops complemented the boss nicely. I was needlessly worried near the end because I forgot that there was no second boss. When you see the boss and the shops, you should easily know what to buy, what to translocate, and what to convert...

Never joined a religion, because by the time I found the altars, it didn't seem like any of them had much to offer for the boss fight. Some of the preps would've helped more.

Probably the most straightforward Grimm's Grotto ever. I think this one is very kind for newer players who might struggle with this dungeon normally.

Personally I explored a bit too much before seeing all three deities and promptly joined TT with Agnostic's Collar and ~80 gold. Not much else to say, really.

Beat this one very mistrustfully. JJ, Agnostic's, Second Altar, Magnet: Fireball... couldn't get more dependable. Grimms with an early Glenrick is a bit of a blessing. Elfkerboooooooom.

27/05/2015 Elf Tinker on Grimm's Grotto

I love Tinkers in all shapes and sizes, and probably two of my favourites are the Gnome and the Elf variants. So yesterday and today felt like a treat for me :)

I think today's went a bit more smoothly because of the more synergistic altars present / preppable. Mystera and JJ would have worked wonderfully for the Gnome, as they worked wonderfully for the Elf. Probably altars could have been swapped between the days, because the Gnome is a monster with JJ/Mystera, and the Elf is a bit more flexible in this sense and can also make a decent build using GG or Earthmother. That said, both days were very fun, nice and relaxing "before-the-storm" runs... 8-)

Fun fact: between the seals and cash, I ended up buying out (or "liberating" ;) ) every single store, for CP if nothing else, though most of the items were actually quite useful!
"Thinker", just without the "ache".

Next run looks rough. Shifting Passages is one of the hardest sub-Vicious dungeons IMO. I don't particularly like Gnomes, but with Warlord and a Mystera prep, it might just work out. I'm still concerned, though. I'll try it later when I'm ready to concentrate.

Gnome Warlord of Mystera with Bleaty as our randomly generated boss and WEYTWUT on the field to avoid getting stick made this one a walk in the park. Shop pool was very nice, and I was able to hit the 16 MP threshold for a triple DP burst relatively early. The subdungeon was also excellent. With this many resources at your fingertips, I don't expect to see major attrition today... and if there is, I clearly need to head off to the wiki to improve the Warlord article.

I probably should do a detailed writeup on the Shifting Passages article about the various tricks you can pull to deny wall creation. It's all about predicting where walls will form, and standing there (or teleporting a monster there) whenever you kill something. If any wall that would be randomly filled is occupied, then no walls get created at all. If you understand the dungeon layout and predict where the hallways will form you can do this very reliably.

This dungeon caused me a ton of trouble on an Orc Fighter Purist PQI just the other day. I never won.

This setup was much more favorable. My stupid Orc Fighter Purist hilariously couldn't kill anything without converting WEYTWUT, and then kept getting boxed in. lolol. Also, I was worshipping Tikki that run. When your strategy is to eat all of the popcorn because everything else is too hard, you might hate this map.

Hero Helm was made for Gnome Warlord. Mystera prep was 100% a no-brainer. It took too long for my damage to catch up, but thankfully a Gnome Warlord Mystera can take Bleaty at a low level with just a single Schadenfreude, and then the next catapult is within reach already even without blackspace. And I literally did run out of blackspace finding Bleaty...
