Pictures?

Here's a few minor suggestions that I think would make the game look better:

1. Make the world map more interesting. Draw mountains forests and islands where they should be!
2. Behind the text for dungeons have pictures of the dungeons. Like for Hexx ruins have glowing ruins sunk in the swamp behind the text. Or a dragon breathing fire at a hero on a different island for dragon isles.
3. Add more tilesets in general! (One for each vicious dungeon (underworld, library, city) and ones like village for gnome and halfling villages)

I don't mean to sound demanding, but these would make the game look better in general.

All good suggestions. I think I've seen them say that at least the first two are on the list after a couple of people noting that there wasn't any way to differentiate dungeons at a glance. More tilesets would be nice as well, good point about the gnome and halfling villages too.

You gave me another idea! You could put a symbol for each dungeon on/in the circle on the map. Like how the easy ones have exclamation points, but actually dungeon specific like a cave for venture cave, a tome for demonic library, or a tower for Gaan-Telet.

Wow. Pretty much everything The Avatar said is something I was just about to make a post about myself. Let me just add my two cents.

I love pretty much everything in the game, and that includes the gorgeous and inspired art. But I find that the beautiful kingdom screen, along with the progress of upgrading the different areas of it, get lost behind all these buttons for selecting the guilds, items, etc. And when you DO get an upgrade to the (for instance) elf section of town, you have no way of knowing when it happened, or admiring the change. Maybe have it do some cool transition where it dissolves from the old one to the new one.

Then, repeating what has been mentioned by several before, the dungeon select map feels lacking without details. And since the entire rest of the game is filled with details, this sticks out even more. The sketched look is great, and reminiscent of the setting of the game, but there can be more details in a sketched map.

And as The Avatar mentioned, I don't mean to sound demanding, these really are minor things (polish, really). But they would just add that much more to atmosphere of the final game.

Keep up the good work!

Yup, those are all polish concerns and stuff we'll be getting to over december/january in the current plan. I suspect that new tilesets will probably not happen just for specific dungeons - we do have another bunch of sets coming though - but we need to keep sets general so that we can re-use them. The time it takes to make an entire set doesn't make it practical to have specialist ones for dungeons that most players probably won't see.

But yes, the map is totally going to get more detail on it (tying dungeon progression together as well) and I'd really like to not only let players visually differentiate individual dungeons, but be able to gauge their progression in a specific dungeon at a glance.

I'm also thinking about all the status effect icons, attack animations, particle effects, etc. That's mah job ;)
