Were you expecting a coherent message? Alweth does not deal with such trifles. Ignore him or watch the thread get locked!

Yeah, I don't like the idea of an extra guild quest. They should just make the class be easy to play, at first, but still good later on. How about changing sense to all monsters, and it shows their level.
We made an expansion and it is awesome. Really, you should check it out, especially if you're looking for some extra challenge.

or change it so he can see monsters the same and up to two levels higher than he with level indicators.

That would work, but the fighter is already so bad that it might not be enough.

I like the concept that the class progression from T1 to T2 to T3 isn't necessary a straightforward improvement, but rather you are getting different classes with different strengths and weaknesses. The Fighter sticks out not only because he's so weak, but two of his three class features can be reproduced (quite easily) with a boon or glyph respectively, and his third class feature is largely useless.

If the Fighter is indeed intended to be an early stepping stone, I agree with the others that he should actually be swapped out and placed into a special location indicating that he's not meant to be regarded as a "real" class. The wizard and priest are both respectable classes, and the Thief is actually one of the strongest classes, there's no real excuse here.

Hmm... well, if you have "guard" (Current Fighter) at level 0, then new fighter, then berserker, then warlord.

What would the new fighter be?

Brawler: 10% damage boost, +1 base damage
Veteran's Senses: Senses all monsters location and level
Unstoppable: Grants a death protection upon leveling, you may stack up to two protections

Just throwing it out there.

sensing ALL monsters basically tells you everything you need to know about the dungeon other than glyphs... maybe only monsters up to 1 level above you.
I play everything in every genre. Send me a message!

The Fighter's deal is that he forgives mediocre play. He is a good training wheel for a player who hasn't yet mastered the exploration and xp mechanics. However, he has nothing that rewards good play. He has no way to excel.

I always thought that the classes were supposedly to be nominally equal in power, and that the successive tiers indicated increasing complexity, not power. Most player will agree that the Thief (I), Rogue II), and Warlord (III) are all excellent classes that have roughly equal success rates. Maybe that was not the original design plan?
