Drews noobish questions

Postby Drew on Sat Feb 18, 2012 7:02 pm

I will update this topic frequently with stupid questions that will make you feel superior to me. Lets begin.

What does the Crystal ball do? I've reread the description lots of times and I cant wrap my head around it.

What does the Battle mage ring do? I have not unlocked it yet, and I cant find anything about it on the wiki.

At one point in naga city, I saw three bosses. Is it worth even trying?

Crystal Ball stores 1MP every time you cast a spell which costs at least 3MP. You can then use the ball to restore your own MP - you get as many MP as the ball contains (up to your maximum limit) and the ball is reset back to 0MP.

Battlemage ring increases fireball damage by 1 per character level.

In the lower level of Naga City you must defeat Bleaty, Super Meat Man, Frank the Zombie, Wall of Goo, The Tormented One, Tomithy, The Ironman, Aequitas, and Lord Gobb before you are allowed to fight the real boss. You will fight three at a time, then the arena will reset. If it's any consolation, the final boss is not very difficult...

It's a serious endurance test, and one of the hardest levels in the game.

... All without being allowed to access any resources left on the top level.

That's really only a huge issue if you have the sanguine ability.

Thanks Darvin. If its ok, I'd like you to post a video of yourself beating it just to get a sense of what the overall level is like.

I've never really had good results from any video capture software I've tried in the past. Anyone got some suggestions?

I dunno, but we usually type these things up on the forums. A full step by step guide of how we did it.

Speaking of Naga City, I just won it, again.

@Drew: Unfortunately I doubt it would be much use to you as it was with a Half-Dragon, a class which there is a 90% chance you don't have. If you do, post and I'll give you my run through.

I'm surprised we didn't have an in-game recorder yet since all we do is click on either an item or an enemy - apart from JJ there's no randomness in a run, and I'm sure that's also predetermined by a seed.

Logging what happens in the run is the easy part, creating a mode to actually do these "replays" is the tricky part.
