Using ENDISWAL to prevent loosing resistance?

Just did a run on a Human Monk and I had to make the hard decision between exploring further or trying to take on the Bandit I had found. Monks have high resistance, and Bandits strip that away, which is why I'd rather avoid him.

But! I thougth, if I used ENDISVAL to raise my resistance to 70% I could take a free hit without loosing my inherient resistance:

50 res + 20 res = 70 res. 70 res - 15 res (from bandit hit) - 5 res (ENDISVAL being dispelled following round) = 50 res.

Or so I thougth, aparanently I had 35 res afterwards, meaning the formula is (50-15)+20 temp res

Is this intentional, or should characters such as monks be able to use ENDISVAL to preserve their resistance?

Yep, that's how it works.

Let's say you had a Dragon Shield instead of ENDISWAL. If you take the hit, you'll be at 53% resistances. But then if you convert the Dragon Shield, you'll be at 35% resistances.

So your own Resistance comes higher on the priority list than that of your equipment or spell effects.

But I suppose Resistance granted from equipment (ei Dragon Shield, Towershield, Will etc) is still reduced if your character has no futher Resistance?

You're overcomplicating it. Think of it like this. When you equip the item, you get a resistance bonus. When you convert the item, you get a resistance penalty equal to the aforementioned bonus.

Zara, what I actually started asking was if you could cast ENDISWAL to get the extra resistance in order to even out the negative effect from thiefs.

Wouldn't it be a nice little buff to ENDISWAL and Binlor if we could prevent resistance loss this way?
