Here's a thought on GG:

- Restore his old penalty for killing lower-level monsters, however he no longer gives or removes piety for killing higher-level monsters. Remove the silly "burning offering" piety gain.
- The cleansing boon now grants an effect similar to sanctified kills. You gain +5 piety for every monster killed until you gain or lose piety from another source (Pactmaker Pacts, boon requests, and sparkles exempted).
- Raise the piety cost of humility to 20, absolution to 40, and lower the cost of enlightenment to 60

This would restore a sanctified kill mechanic to GG, but you'd have to tread carefully because any source of piety gain or loss will end your sanctified streak, and every time you activate cleansing the cost increases by +5 so you only get so many shots at this. This would be a piety gain mechanic equally accessible to both high and low-level characters, and forces you to be observant both of what GG likes and dislikes.

Thought I was going to get a "Poisoned" piety boost from the new GG, but instead got a -20(!!) piety hit for attacking a Poison Pod while I was level 1. Was this intended?

Edit: I still did receive the +2 piety for being poisoned, but it was overshadowed by the hit.
It happens on all the plants, by the way.

Plants count as level 10 monsters.

The GG plant thing is a bug, it'll be fixed next update.

On the subject of GG, I don't think that forbidding higher-level combat is ever going to be a viable restriction for any god, no matter what the boons. I once calculated the difference in xp between clearing a dungeon fighting at equal or lower monsters whenever possible, versus fighting one level higher whenever possible. It ended up being somewhere around 100 xp. And that was the bare minimum case of only fighting 1 level higher. There isn't a boon in the entire game worth the opportunity cost, and any god that did try to hide such an amazing boon behind such an impossible wall would just get short-circuited by conversion antics.

Well, TT already sort of does forbid higher-level combat. His penalties are just avoidable if you can kill the thing quickly enough.

TT's penalties are manageable, and can be offset by poison, which is the boon you should be taking if you are doing an early TT. But, yeah, TT is mostly used as a late game god for these reasons. The barrier to early TT worship isn't unclimbable, just challenging.

TT is only untenable if you're using death protection or you're a Monk (without poison). Taking a couple -2 piety hits is doable, especially if you're gaining piety from other sources at the same time. GG, on the other hand, is tossing out massive piety penalties and has basically no source of piety gain to cancel them out.

Useless you have Whurgaburgle to make every low level kill a burnt offering.
