So about the Transmuter...

How do you play this properly?
I mean really: He starts with -50% bonus damage, has -2 Hp PER LEVEL and starts with -3 mana.

The positive traits of his class dont, in any way, make up for the crippling weaknesses his other "trait" gives him.

Most of the time you end up being slightly better than other races at something (depending on your race), and worse at everything else! And that is at the expense of either a lot of bonus Xp or at the expense of a lot of exploration space.

Really, the GUARD is better than this.

Am I going around this the completely wrong way?

He can only really be played as a only spell caster class, as you can rack up 30+ mana. Bring a crystal ball, and you can beat certain vicious dungeons (Like the avatar!)

Now that I think about it, yeah. An Elf focused on spells would work.

But heck, even the Wizard can be played as a phisical damage class in certain situations. If the only way to play as a Transmuter is to focus completely on spells then that is kind of broken isnt it?

Elf BURNDAYRAZ specialist, Orc PISORF specialist, and that's it.

There's simply no way to overcome both his base attack and attack bonus issues. Orcs will always be hamstrung by having too little attack bonus no matter what you do, humans always hamstrung by too little base attack. Dwarves and halflings are a total joke since they can't overcome either shortcoming. Now, gnomes can work if you do attack->MP and bring a mage plate, but with the possibility of up to 4 Schadenfreude potions I'd take elf over gnome for a pure caster any day. Unless you're building up a trisword and/or alchemist scroll or you have a racial effect the elf is now the clear superior to the gnome.

I've been trying to figure this class out too.

The other day I was trying an Orc Transmuter and prepped Binlor and the Stone Heart. My hopes were to boost my base attack for the knockdown boon and use the might-after-wall-destruction boon. I had this vision of having Might every swing and just plowing some enemies down rows of walls, with some free fireballs thrown in for good measure. Problem is that prepping Binlor usually makes it hard to find a good line of walls to knock some one through, not to mention I didn't have the health to knock most monsters through more than one wall at a time anyway.

I agree though. The transmuter isn't fun because there is nothing unique about the class. All it does is force you to jump through a bunch of hoops in order to (poorly) emulate some other class.

Since it got upped to 20% per use, using ENDISWAL as a pre-buff has become totally viable, but is still mostly relegated to Binlor worshippers, or those with either the Rock Heart or BLUDTUPOWA. The Transmuter's fundamental issue is that by putting supreme emphasis on ENDISWAL he will always be dependent on comboing off of those three specific things.

Now that different dungeons have different wall totals, the transmuter is not very viable as a class concept. I vote for a new special class.

Off-topic, but you mentioned the Mage Plate, Darvin. Where is that?
I feel like I had a quest to unlock that (Beat some dungeon with the 4 first tier classes maybe?), but I think the quest got removed in an update. I just remember thinking I had one less quest available after an update.

Anyway, I don't have it and I've beaten everything but the Vicious Gaan-talet so far.
