What if he just got conversion points for destroying a wall? That would keep the concept behind the current Transmuter (which I like) without the weirdness.

Now he seems pretty wimpy. The problem with IMAWALL is you're using a monster in addition to casting it, so you can't really balance a class around it. How about making the transmuter more like an alchemist? Convert this into this, that into that, etc.
