For instance, I don't know what the burning effect really does. I know a few ways to get it on a monster but what does it do? I found this in a description of the sword Whurrgarble "Your physical attacks deal burning damage (+1) damage", does this mean that this sword only does +1 damage? Why not use the +2 sword or +4 fine sword instead?
Corrosion is another one....any help would be appreciated!
Sure. The Wiki is sparse because things have been changing so much from week to week. The community here is pretty awesome and we're all glad to help answer questions.
Burning is applied by Fireball and Whurrgarbl. It means that whenever one of those attacks hits, it does bonus damage equal to the burning, then applies another layer of burning.
Example: You're level 1, so your Fireball does 4 damage
First Fireball: Deals 4 damage, leaves Burning (1)
Second: Deals 5 damage, leaves Burning (2)
And so on
Now, the other thing to realize about Burning is that it'll "ignite" if that enemy is hit with a non-burning attack or any other enemy is hit at all. When Burning ignites, it deals damage equal to its stacks to the monster. So to continue the above example:
You're fighting a monster with 11 health
First Fireball: 7 health and Burning (1)
Second Fireball: 2 Health and Burning (2)
Now, if you attack another monster the Burning will ignite and kill the first monster.
Finally Corrosion increase damage from every melee and Fireballs by 1 per stack. Unlike Burning it never goes away. It can also be applied to both the PC and Monsters, while Burning is applied to monsters only.
