One of the nastier technicalities in Momentum that I forgot until I played a round of Crusader today:

Hitting a non-XP enemy breaks your chain, even if you kill him in a single hit. This makes it very difficult to chain above 75% on Hexx Ruins...

That's awful, but otherwise it would make plants soooooooo abusable.

Well, non-XP enemies don't need to add to a chain, they just need to not break an existing chain...

That's true, same with fireballs.

Odd thought:

Since killing an enemy gives you a 25% damage boost, that's sort of like casting Byssepps... without the resistance penetration effect... and slightly less damage boost.

Bysseps costs 2 MP. So Momentum is like getting two less flexible Blue Beads.

Actually I don't know where I'm going with this.

I don't know either, but with a blue bead you could get 80% from every two monsters.

The game is absolutely littered with attack bonus increases. Berserkers, Warlords, Thieves, Rogues, Priests, and Crusaders all get circumstantial attack bonus increases as a class feature. We have a glyph that grants attack bonus, we have a race that grants attack bonus, there are powerups in the dungeon to increase attack bonus (and you can take a preparation to increase the amount you can find), there's a small-sized blacksmith item that gives attack bonus, there are several lockerable items to increase your attack bonus. There are lots of things to compare momentum to, and you can stack to absolutely crazy levels.

The big issue is that there are so many attack bonus increases that you're desperately searching for a complementary boost to base attack; there are very few of those in the game; Orcs, Triswords, Fine Sword, Spoons, Blacksmith Sword prep (which really needs to be a small item; it's basically an oversized spoon), and Taurog's Skullpicker. That's it.

The best comparison to momentum is the new Avatar's Symbol, which gains a 10% charge every time you kill a monster, caps at 100%, and when activated gives you an attack bonus boost. Essentially it builds up at the rate of old momentum, but can be activated at your own discretion.

Oh god. Imagine an orc crusader with 290% attack bonus (Momentum 100%, Avatar Symbol 100%, Attack Boosters 50%, Badge of Courage 10%, Perseverance Badge 10%, Dwarven Gauntlets 20%). That's 195 damage without conversions.

If you can stack enough bonus on a Trisword with an Orc, you could reach upwards of 300 damage on a single attack.
