This thread is for people who want advice on their performance. Post up fairly in depth plays explaining your main decisions to get some helpful advice from more advanced players.

I'll go first: Purist Halfling Priest in Eastern Tundra - https://imgur.com/a/FGXwL

Good job! I only have a few comments to add:

1) You shouldn't enter the sub-dungeon unless you're injured. If you enter at full health, you waste tiles.

2) That sub-dungeon is actually the blood fountain one. It'll fully heal you when you drink from it.

3) The best use for WEYTWHUT is to teleport all the low level monsters to the center of the map. Slowed monsters give 1 extra XP, which gives you more resources for the boss fight.

4) Pactmaker is the best deity, since Body Pact is amazing. Your best bet would have been to worship Earthmother, use Plantation to get a bunch of piety, and then take Body Pact. The extra resistances would have been great. Alternatively, the first boon (Overheal and Might on level up) is amazing too.

The sub dungeon you're thinking of (with the goats) has a broken altar in the center of it and is more brown colored. The thing about that one (that I also didn't understand until I read somewhere) is that they give piety when you kill them. I am pretty sure they are all non-experience as well.

Yeah, JJ + Body Pact on Ick Swamp is like cheating.

Bit heavy on the profanity, but good job anyways ;)

As for the blood altar, it does much more than restore your health. It gives you 15% sanguine if you're already at full health. That's like 5 full heals instead of one.

Good point. Edited.

Good to know about the altar. Wish the wiki had stuff like this in it.

The blood altar is a fairly new subdungeon.

We really do need a balance discussion about the subdungeons, however. Some of them are horrendous, while others are just way too good. A lot of them are really circumstantial; finding Good Glenrick as a low-level character is nuts, for instance. However, the subdungeons that offer no exploration really need to be looked at. The temple of knowledge at least has some potent effects (though it's a crappy find for purists) but the one that just contains the mana->HP stat swap potion is positively horrible.

I found Good Glenrick in the Dragon Isles twice, but I was too green to use them properly. There's also the sub-dungeon where you donate gold for xp. The zombie dungeon is huge, so many dark tiles to use. On the other side of the coin yin/yang is tiny if you don't have the right glyphs.

The very worst thing about them is they train you (new players) not to read signs. So many of the traps are triggered by signs, it's terrible.
