Oh I certainly agree with that sentiment. Strictly in terms of the comparison with Taurog, however, he works the same way in that his piety gain vastly outweighs his piety loss. Of course, I'm not a big fan of the current Taurog either...

How about making a survey about who likes the new GG and who doesn't?
This may illustrate for the devs just how much we want the old version back.

I'm all for the old version as well. To balance enlightment in the old version, maybe drop the piety needed for enlightment and make it a partial gold cost instead. Boon comes earlier, but you have to pay the according ressources. Also fits the "spiritual over material" theme from the former incarnation and is kind of the opposite of tikki tokki who rewards you with gold.

Perhaps it's cost is reduced by your remaining gold, making it a bigger sacrifice to get it earlier, but you get the extra bonus of leveling up with better stats.

Make a poll? I don't think anyone, even lurkers, enjoy the new GG. It's basically a quick band-aid for them for players to test out other gods instead of going straight for GG again, sort of like how they made Evelynn completely useless in League of Legends because they didn't have time to fix her, but they didn't want her crippling the game either.

That being said, with the tone DD is taking, I don't think "GG is a self-righteous coward" is a "wrong" interpretation of the character, so to speak. We're just used to his old incarnation making a lot more sense than the current one.

I know, it's a consensus, but it makes it much more apparent, IMO, when you have 33 votes saying the current one is lame.

I don't know. So many of the characters/stories are ironically funny, and while it's amusing to have a self-righteous coward as the "good" god, it's nice to have a real good guy to help you get away from the cruelty rather than a list of arbitrary and dehabilitating rules that apparently are "good".

"Self-righteous Coward" is a very apt description of new GG, going hand-in-hand with "Tikki Tooki with less charm and more grump"
