Unfortunately, the fact that they can spawn does not mean they do spawn.

It's kinda hard to apply any sort of tactics when your way is constantly blocked by low level monsters. With no way to get them out, your only option is to kill them, and this usually results in you having to kill too much popcorn too early. Not only this is bad in general, it leads to Rex starting to hunt for you when you're level 4. Which also means that you are nearly guaranteed to become trapped between him and something sooner or later. Considering that while the boss is not the exact definition of "weak", this is usually fatal.

You can probably tell that I'm not fond of maze levels.

I hate Shifting Passages. I knew the way to the exit could be blocked by walls, but they never said the exit itself....
Double fun since I killed the Tower of GFoo first and sold his trophy. ARGH.
This is my third JJ gnome attempt on this dungeon. I think its sending me a message.

I just had the first appearance of the messenger when I noticed the dungeon layout. I think he might be screwing with the RNG:

I concur. I decided to give up when I realised I had uncovered over half the map and only found two enemies that I was capable of killing and the only glyph I had was Bludtopowa!

That one time where you're a very, very trialed and esteemed Glowing Guardian paladin tromping through Vicious Halls of Steel, fighting Count BlahBlahBlahIMGUNNAPORTONURALTER, and NOTHING saves you:

Priest Bronze Challenge. +1 health was directly to my spawn point in the red box. Grabbed it and headed right. :)
