I'm noob... and i'm stuck!

Hi guys,

i just bought the beta version of the game, but i previously played the alpha version last year, so i know a bit how to play.
(i had unlocked and finished the normal dungeons will all tier 3 classes).

The problem is... i find this game way harder! I finished like 2 dungeons with the fighter, but i can't finish them with the mage or the thief, i'm always stuck to these 900hp super meat boy, or 1 hit KO magicians, and they are really glyph dependant!

I can't unlock dwarves/halflings calss cause i need money (i have the forge and the shops unlocked).

Do you know which dungeon i should try first to get some more stuff? Or to unlock tier 2 classes?

Thank you very much,

Regards,

Reason it feels harder is because you have to unlock the deities and shops, whereas these were available from the start in the alpha. I'll create a new account and see if I can add some annotated playthroughs to demonstrate basic tactics to win without shops or deities at your disposal.

Your best approach with gods and shops unavailable is to focus on a level-up catapult. Leave as many low-level monsters alive as possible, then smack them down to level-up and gain a full heal.

Yeah, its going better now that i got the glowing guardian and some shops. I finished the tundra with the priest so i got 500g to unlock the halflings, so now, rogues and priest will be maybe a bit more efficient!

I usually go fight a boss just before reaching the next level, so that i can be restored during the fight but i never win two levels during the battle, is it supposed to be a common thing?

But i'm pretty sure bosses are way more difficult compared to the alpha version. This Mega meat man is a huge pain!

Maybe because we were also unlocking the ennemies in the alpha version...

Yeah, it's really annoying. I started a new profile and I end up having to grind. Since you need tier two classes to unlock hard dungeons and they now cost a lot more you end up stuck early game.

Also, you end up getting two levels? I usually get 1 level up and still easily finish feeling parched in early dungeons. Then again I'm considered a vet, so that's normal.

Super Meat Man tends to stymie newbies even in the original Alpha. The trick is to start relatively early and regen-fight the guy (it's not too hard to out-damage him).

That's all I have to add.

I managed to beat my first meat man yesterday so, it is doable, but i had a lot of favour from glowing guardian, and shops available.

Without these two features, it is far more difficult to beat them :)

Meat Men are certainly beatable without shops or the GG; I took down SMM several times yesterday when playing around with a new kingdom. The key is leveraging regeneration. Put simply, Meat Men regenerate at the same pace as any monster despite their massive hit point total, and if you're a high enough level (7 is usually sufficient on the early dungeons) you can just hit them and then go back to heal by exploration.

I definitely have to say that unlocking Tikki Tooki is top priority for an early kingdom (by the way, I quite like his new subdungeon). He's great for accruing gold and his poison attack boon is invaluable, and once you get the Assassin class you're all but home-clear. Assassins are by far the best class for purist runs, greatly reducing your dungeon-run costs.
