I havnt changed computers and i havnt shared my password with anyone, so i suppose its a bug, i had just completed the frozen wasteland (i think thats what its called anyway) with a monk

I have experienced the same problem two times. I have the 10 dollar beta version of the game.

Please fix this.

Maybe not a bug, I've never fully understood Gorgons... had 45% death gaze, and up against SMM, he had about 110/1100 hp, so well below the threshold. Combat prediction didn't show win, so I hit him anyway, thinking it must be wrong, but nope, he lived on (well, for a bit). Every other critter it worked as expected, but not him. Haven't spent a lot of time with gorgons, so I don't really know if this is normal or no, but it doesn't seem right.

Death Gaze isn't an instant kill, it's an extra attack at base damage.

It's not just that, it's an extra attack, but the first one has the swift hands-like "ignores everything" max priority first strike. It's basicaly a free reflex potion on every attack after the monster is below a certain percentage. What's confusing me every time is that it's exactly like the reflex potion, so you can only insta-gib stuff which has as many HP as your attack value, and get killed if it's below threshold but above your attack.

It's not like a reflex potion at all. The reflex potion comes dead last and uses attack damage modifiers.

You're right that it does have the same timing as Swift Hands.

Swift Hands / Player Death Gaze
Enemy First Strike
Player First Strike
Higher Level Enemy
Same Level Enemy
Player
Lower Level Enemy
Slowed Enemy
Slowed Player
Reflex / Mana Shield*

*These technically aren't last, but the only case where it would even matter is Mana Shield + Specialist

No, no, the effect sayes "gives the gorgon retaliation", same as reflex does. Except death gaze applies swift hands priority on the first blow, then you have to survive the blow in between, then it applies the priority on the second one. So if you'd kill the monster with the first one it's an insta gib, if not, you have to be able to tank a hit.

No, the regular attack still uses the same priority. It's just that if your enemy is strong enough to survive the death gaze attack, they're almost always going first.

Time to do some testing!

Edit: Being at work I can't do anything in depth, but from the ability description:
AMETHYST STARE: Deathgaze effect deals unresistable damage upon attacking creatures with low health

I apologize.. I just wish they wouldn't call it death gaze. It's confusing that my death gaze is so much crappier than the one I encounter on mobs.

Well, you're only a young gorgon... Also, different subspecies. Note the colouration and the slight difference in hair-snake head shape.

Some species of Gorgon only mildly irritate things they hit, they've been unflatteringly compared to papercut golems. Still other Gorgon species have different things that set them off: You never want to pun within earshot of a Ruby Gorgon, for example.

Also, bugs logged up to here :)

Has nobody been crashing the game with odd movement commands this week? Awesome!
