The Forbidden Topic: Monk Resistances

Postby Sidestepper on Thu Jul 05, 2012 9:48 pm

Am I alone in thinking that stripping Monks of all of their magic resistance was an overcorrection? Bringing a -50% damage penalty to the fight is a huge burden against magical opponents. It's like they all get 50% resistance, except that they don't have to pay for it in terms of lower health or damage the way that goo blobs do.

How would a 25% magic resistance sound?

Both Monks and Berserkers suffer the same issue. I think it's fine that they each respectively have more trouble with certain kinds of monsters, but it starts to become a problem for certain types of bosses. It creates obscene mismatches where certain bosses are quite easily dispatched and others are nightmarish (magic damage BlahBlah, anyone?)

Add to that the fact that the new Taurog sort of completely removes the -30% part of monk's downside, while enhacning his %res upside... I'm sort of for keeping him the way he is simply becuase it makes you work for his magic resists. And that is all I'll say about the topic.

Well, I actually didn't want to post about it since I knew it would take a while before getting widespread and now the devs might patch this but in the end I'm too lazy to scum for it.
