I have completed Rock Garden before, I am simply having trouble getting the witch upgrade.

Especially if there's Drac for Blood Curse. That makes it super easy.

So I would like to report that thanks to this thread, I have found success and unlocked the Vampire! I did Berserker, Sorcerer, Paladin, like was suggested, and now can start working on the other dungeons! I don't entirely understand the vampire, as I feel like there are times where the combat prediction tells me I'll survive 3 hits and then after one it thinks I'll die, but that's a separate issue.

Well yeah, but normally you can use the little tick marks on your hp to see how much damage it will do. For the vampire, I feel like occasionally it will say I can survive 4 hits, and then suddenly the next hit would kill me.

That's what he explained. The ticks are showing their damage minus your life steal. Except if their damage by itself is enough to kill you it doesn't matter how much life steal you have.

Example of what fall_ark said:
Lifesteal: 10=Z
Enemydamage: 15=Y
Herodamage: 15=X
Own HP: 21
Combat prediction evaluates X-Z=5 Damage which equals 4 hits
After two hits, you have 11 HP left.
The enemy attack deals damage before your attack and thus before your lifesteal.
15 Damage > 11 HP -> You die
So the real hits you can take are 2, not 4.
The lifesteal is also capped by your own damage.
