For a low-level character whose base damage is like 2 or 3, even a couple hits of corrosion can double or triple your damage output. Even for mid-level characters with 15-20 damage you're racking up a significant damage boost. Couple with BYSSEPS against a physical-resist opponent and it gets comical.

Heck, last night I defeated the 100% resist troll in the PISORF subdungeon just by smacking him silly with corrosion.

Sad to say it, but corrosion really does need a cap...

Very very true about the corrosion. Or set it's damage type to either physical or magical, since it obviously can't be resisted which makes MW as bizzare as I make them out to be every time I mention them.

And the fact that burning and corrosion stack makes Martyr Wraps beyond bizzare, and makes the stick stick an item I'd locker if MW wasn't available.

As for burning, i've often killed enemies while using it - DP enemies to be precise. You leave them burning after you crack their DP with a fireball and go hit a popcorn monster. If you want to conserve popcorn, hit a meatman instead. The meatman move works rather well against druids in Gaan'Telet.

I'd say martyr wraps should be capped, not corrosion.

Saying corrosion needs a nerf is a little like fixing a leaking tap by turning off the mains.

Technicaly there is the Sticky Stick, which is, for all practical purposes a "locker only" "Martyr Wraps light", exept being a small item.

A cap (or other nerf to corrosion) would for all practical purposes, most probably, only be a nerf to MArtyr Wraps and vice versa. On the other hand, a nerf or cap to Martyr Wraps which would put a break on sillyness might make the Sticky Stick an interesting item to locker.

What on earth is the sticky stick?

Also, the reason for capping Martyr wraps and not corrosion is just for simplicity; applying random rules to status effects gets very messy, very quickly.

Remember that corrosion effects the player with no limits, why would there be limits to monsters?

A good example is the burning thread that just went up; explaining burning takes an essay. Hardly any of that info is available to new players, only veterans who have witnessed every little tweak.

Items should modify the effects of game mechanics, not the other way around.

How about (to make it better than burning) 4 stacks per level?
