Apropos of nothing, the Matron just went down to a purist Goblin Assassin of TIkki Tooki - yes, it's basically an (the) optimal strategy for that dungeon, but I wasn't even making a serious effort, it just sort of happened. With ~20 unexplored tiles, all potions, and enough conversion points for another level up remaining. The disparity in difficulty between the vicious dungeons is quite vast.

Yeah. DL can be beaten by a small handful of classes, while DI can be beaten by all except 2 (or less).
We made an expansion and it is awesome. Really, you should check it out, especially if you're looking for some extra challenge.

Of the ones I've played (so, not Namtar or GT yet), DI is waay easier than DL, NC is probably the most accomodating to different classes, which I really like, while being harder for the classes that are good at it than DI is.

Yeah. DI and Naga City are, IMO, the ideal difficulty level for Vicious. Namtar I still have to test, but DL is too hard.
We made an expansion and it is awesome. Really, you should check it out, especially if you're looking for some extra challenge.

Posted without comment, other than that I find the fact that this strategy still works - if anything, it works better than even before the Crystal Ball "nerf" thanks in large part to the new BLUDTOPOWA making poison unnecessary and the starting gold + the arena's piles and piles of gold and shops making your finances effectively infinite - to be completely hilarious.

Yeah, Naga City is a joke now. All those extra resources just make it boringly easy, at least compared to how it used to be.

Really? I haven't played it in awhile, but no altars above and expensive ones below sounds hard.

The altar situation makes certain strategies difficult if not impossible - Binlor, JJ, Earthmother, and GG are all basically useless except perhaps for last ditch refreshment - but other strategies are almost completely unaffected. Mystera in particular, since as long as you spam glyphs on the surface she'll give you 100 starting piety, enough to buy a good number of her boons. Taurog, too, if his boons were actually worth taking in that dungeon. Tikki Tooki can also work pretty well, seeing how much gold you end up with. Really, the whole altar situation in Naga City feels rather clunky, it shuts down some things but not others, and illustrates how poorly some of the deities do if you don't get access to them until very late (Binlor and JJ in particular, since getting enough piety to make effective use of them is nearly impossible).

Unlocking Binlor is actually still a good deal because he's such an easy desecration target. He's really got no way to generate piety, though, so he's a trap to convert into. Earthmother and GG both work well for clearance and protection in the end-game, and are a good alternative to Dracul for blood swells. Mystera/Tikki Tooki/Dracul is still your holy trinity here. Taurog might be half-decent for a resist-stacker, but that's pushing it. Jehora is really the only altar that's completely useless in this context. In theory it might be possible to go straight for chaos avatar or grabbing a last chance, but in practice you may as well use GG, Earthmother, or Dracul since they'll offer more benefit without the alarming level of risk.
