Known bug/issue concerning the beta

Postby Nandrew on Tue Nov 13, 2012 9:19 am

Hey all,

We're experiencing some ongoing difficulties with how the game is playing in a lot of people's browsers. If you're having trouble, you're not crazy or alone -- this is a fairly prevalent issue and we're working to get it resolved ASAP.

Unfortunately, this is where the term "beta" shows its downside. We apologise for the inconvenience, and we promise that this is strictly a pre-release issue. The trouble you're having now will not affect the game's performance when it hits the market in v1.0 (and if you aren't aware yet, rest assured that the game won't stay browser-based on full release).

----------------

Here's a few things you may want to know in the meantime:

- If you need to contact us directly or or have a forum-related query, you can find information on our forum FAQ (viewtopic.php?f=7&t=54). There's also a copy on the main DD website.

- Firefox is your best bet for handling browser instabilities, though in recent weeks this has been somewhat less reliable. Internet Explorer is *not* a good option in general.

- We're currently in contact with Unity, troubleshooting the issue (Unity webplayer / environment being the tool we used to create and run the Desktop Dungeons Beta). As far as we're aware, it's a quirk specific to DD rather than a widespread Unity malus.

- Common issues in recent weeks are "content loading errors" when firing up the game and missing (white) textures on various in-game screens. If you're experiencing any other problems, they're probably run-of-the-mill bugs and we'd appreciate you reporting them to us via forum or e-mail (see FAQ above).
