Okay, having had a chance to play on another computer I can finally give some feedback. The new specialist badge is way, way too easy to get. In many scenarios you have to be actively trying not to get it now. While the badge took a bit of planning on dungeons like Rock Garden before, it was always one of the easiest badges to attain if you approached matters intelligently.
