We'll be trying a little DD game over the next few days called the Dungeon of the Day Scoring Challenge. If it's successful, this might become a regular "play-by-forum" activity around here. Any players are welcome to participate, regardless of whether you're a veteran or beginner. Even if you're new to Desktop Dungeons and can only manage one or two medals, feel free to post your experiences here. The rules are as follows:

At 8:00 PM Pacific time (4:00 AM GMT, about 5 hours 50 minutes from now), I will roll a 4-sided die in order to select a dungeon at random from the following list of directional dungeons:

Rock Garden (1), Creeplight Ruins (2), Hexx Ruins (3), Havensdale Bridge (4)

I will then roll three dice to determine which classes will be eligible:

d4 - Fighter (1), Thief (2), Priest (3), Wizard (4)
d4 - Berserker (1), Rogue (2), Monk (3), Sorcerer (4)
d6 - Crusader (1,4), Tinker (2,5), Transmuter (3,6)

Warmonger = 6 points
Faithless, Hoarder = 4 points each
Purist, Unstoppable, Parched and Miser = 3 points each
Ding! Max = 2 points
Specialist and Cheeky = 1 point each

Tie scores will be resolved by how long it took you to beat the dungeon, with the faster time winning.

The contest ends on Thursday at 8:00 PM PST, and the highest-scoring user at the time is declared the winner. Users may submit as many entries as they like, but only the highest-scoring will be counted.

Interesting. I'd like to see how the new scoring affects the results.

Ugh, I'm never going to be able to do one of these because you always pick the worst possible time.

The contest runs for three days, and it's not like everyone is sitting there ready to play Desktop Dungeons non-stop for 72 hours to try and get the very best possible score. You just need to find an hour or so of time over the next few days to sit down, have a few runs, and then post your best score.

But why start it at 11pm EST?

It's not like there's a prize and we have to worry about someone getting an unfair head start.

Agreed. I actually lose a whole day because of that (not like it matters, but whatever).

Well, I apologize if you feel strongly about it. The fact that no one is getting any unfair advantage from a headstart is precisely why I didn't think much of using this time. I will pick a different start time next time if it bothers people. Contest will start in 10 minutes.

Yeah, I don't feel especially strong about, more that I'm grumpy today and need something to grump about :)

Just knocking it back a few hours so that those of us on the East cost can squeeze in a game when we get home from work would be great.
