Dungeon of the Day - 4

Due to certain class bugs, assassin runs are invalid. The priest is your new option.

We'll be trying a little DD game over the next few days called the Dungeon of the Day Scoring Challenge. If it's successful, this might become a regular "play-by-forum" activity around here. Any players are welcome to participate, regardless of whether you're a veteran or beginner. Even if you're new to Desktop Dungeons and can only manage one or two medals, feel free to post your experiences here. The rules are as follows:

ASAP after the update comes out on Friday. First I will roll for the dungeon:

Halls of Steel (1), Ick Swamp (2), Labyrinth (3), Shifting Passages (4)

I will then roll three dice to determine which classes will be eligible:

Fighter (1), Warlord (2), Thief (3), Rogue (4), Assassin (5), Priest (6), Monk (7), Paladin (8), Sorcerer (9), Bloodmage (10), Tinker (11), Crusader (12)

To determine your score you add your medals and your handicap. Each medal is worth some amount of points, and certain classes get point handicaps based on their aptitude at getting badges.

Warmonger = 5 points
Faithless, Hoarder, Purist = 4 points each
Unstoppable, Parched and Miser = 3 points each
Ding! Max = 2 points
Specialist and Cheeky = 1 point each

+0 classes: Rogue, Berserker, Assassin
+1 classes: Warlord, Monk
+2 classes: Bloodmage, Paladin
+3 classes: Sorcerer, Fighter, Vampire, Gorgon, Tinker, Transmuter
+4 classes: Priest, Half-Dragon, Crusader, Thief
+5 classes: Wizard

Tie scores will be resolved by how long it took you to beat the dungeon, with the faster time winning.

The contest ends on Thursday at 3:15 EST, and the highest-scoring user at the time is declared the winner. Users may submit as many entries as they like, but only the highest-scoring will be counted.

The thing is, ASAP for me could be 3 hours late if it comes out at 12:15. I guess I'll change it anyways.

Okay, Shifting Passages with rogue, assassin, or crusader.

Oof! The high scoring class would be one that I have very little experience with. I was hoping for the Priest. I might be the only guy here that likes Priests.

I also like the priest, having only for him the zombie dog (pepper-something? the thing which gives a monster the 'undead' trait) in my locker. But still can't decide if the item is worth the room and preping it

The zombie dog might be a cute prep for a single boss dungeon, but it's probably not worth the long term loss of leverage throughout the whole adventure. The synergies worth amplifying for the Priest are the potion power and the extra health. Trisword is awesome on a Priest, and Alchemy Scroll isn't bad either. If you can get both, and if you're playing a halfling, you will get an abomination that effectively has all of the racial traits of the halfling, dwarf, and orc, a creature that I like to call the 'Dorkling' or sometimes the 'Half-Dworc.'

Dorklings must be millionaires ... or being really sad. Sitting on cool stuff with awesome potential, but no way to use it.

You need a pile of gold to pull it off, of course. It works best in multi-boss dungeons like Demonic Library or Rock Garden. If I'm serious about scumming for a Dorkling run, I'll prep the backsmith sword and a transmutation seal. That gives you enough gold to get you off and running.
