I beat the game!

It is not the first time I did this. But the first time in a long time(after long breaks and tons of retuning). I used a halfling rogue(and prayed and got a tri-sword). Hard Gaan-talet feels quite well tuned. It took the very last of my resources to finish the boss off(everything was dead, 2 alters desecrated, no relevant amount of piety left, all potions used, every item converted to get the last hit).

I also got my first vicious win too(also not really my first, again first with this profile and in a while). Probably one of the easier ones to pull off but it was a Halfling Zerker in VHoS. I took advantage of the ledger to prop up lots of early kills. Now I need to plug away at "Muu..." so I can open Dragon Isles.. berzerker in Labyrinth is terrible...

Also of Note: I do not have TT, I do not have Goblin, I do not have Pactmaker. 2 of those might be my fault as I have a burning hatred for the southern areas especially Ick Swamp. I blame monk quests.

Labyrinth is probably the most luck based map in the game. Binlor is the standard answer, but the Berserker both has the hardest time gaining piety for him and stands a lot to lose for not keeping up.

I recommend a Human Berserker with Bearmace. A lot of people talk as if the Bearmace solves the map by itself, but it really doesn't. It's entirely possible to play through most of the map without getting a chance to break any walls that matter. I prefer Human to Orc here because you don't want a high starting damage. You want monsters to survive so you can get knockbacks. The best situation is if you can find a meatman and just push him all the way across the map, connecting all of those snarling corridors. You pretty much have to find either WEYTWUT, WONAFYT, or ENDISWAL.

Fun fact about WONAFYT. It will always try to place a monster in one of the squares directly north, east, south or west of you, only filling in diagonals when there is no other space. You can use this information to predict where summoned monsters will appear and position them so that they will let you knock down specific walls.

On the matter of the gods, it is definitely worth sending a Tinker to the Southern Swamp and scumming for Tikki Tooki. Once you have him, you will also be able to get Pactmaker, and then the number of altars that spawn will go from 2 or 3. That's a huge power boost, and it doesn't cost you anything.

Hmm that is some great advice! Thanks! I am not sure why I had not thought of tinker scumming. Probably just general hatred of the southern areas(used tinker scumming for a lot of things previously). Yea bearmace has never been an instant win for me, and in fact usually left me more frustrated(accidently pushing things into black space etc). I think my ideal situation might be finding endiswall and mystera with something to be able to desecrate.

Well finally found Tikki Tooki.. that is one of the hardest alters to actually accomplish.. I think I expended most of the resources in the level on it(biggest problem I had converted wonafyt before finding it). Still a lot of fun!
