Okay, more text walling. I'm ALMOST caught up.
Part 56: Everyone's first Ick run is terrible. You wouldn't even have been close to winning. The rogue is great for Ick. He is the second best class. The heroes helm is really only good for prepping. In Ick I would always take magnet: Fireball. It is just to helpful. Frankly, for a rogue you can get poisoned and you will generally be okay, because of your first strike. You really should have taken magnet: fireball. You could beat first strikers and you could actually deal with the 999 damage plants. If you knew the proper way to clear plants this would be easy frankly. B2P is not that good for the rogue, except if you can't take a shot from anything. Wow, you are getting some ridiculous dodge stuff. You can WEYTWUT the barbing bushes. DON'T! Dang. Whatever. Taurog is great for rogues, but he's really not that good in Ick Swamp. You get better damage boosts just from the little gems. You can't clear all of the curse plants like that. Curse stacks. If you are going to have to be poisoned, just get it over with before the LEVEL UP! It wouldn't be your only choice if you were clearing the plants before leveling up. Frankly, you would be doing so much better if you did such. I wonder how the spoons got inside those plants... If you took Taurog's shield and then hadn't been foolish with curse you could have won that fight. You can't be so foolish with curse. If you just kill the level 1 and then you can kill the meat man, poison or no. Seriously, use your strength potion if you are a couple of damage short. YOU HAVE A COMPRESSION SEAL! PAY ATTENTION! You payed for those preps, don't forget it. Why would you convert two spoons when 1 was enough? There is only 1 magic enemy. The heroes helm is less valuable than the pendant. I highly recommend prepping a fortitude tonic or burn salve on Ick, so you can clear out a bunch of nasty plants and not be effected. You can regen fight that gorgon. Thank you for choosing NOT to kill your popcorn. Mystera is a flat out bad choice. Don't kill same level monsters. It's below you. If you used your strength potion you could take out a level 7 or 8. He does less than 32. YOU HAVE RESISTS! Meat men aren't really even that good for the rogue. They are nice and easy to regen fight, but goats and other low hp targets are better. That was a very poor decision. You didn't need to pick up the armor now. YOU BETTER NOT DO THAT. IF YOU WASTE THAT DP IT WILL COME BACK TO HAUNT YOU! Don't say whatever to curse. It hurts you pretty significantly. You cannot beat that boss yet. Most bosses don't have tricks. They just have nasty stats. Oh what a poor decision. That will end your run. You should have leveled up one more time. YOU THREW AWAY A DP! Oh no. That is even worse. You should save your DP until you are about to die. That health potion is enough. You just don't remember your RESISTS! NO NO NO! USE A POTION! WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?! YOU WILL BARELY BE ABLE TO TAKE A SHOT FROM THE OTHER BOSS, SO YOU NEED YOUR DP! AND YOU FORGOT YOUR RESISTS! NOOOOOOOO! That was one of the most terrible boss fight performances I have seen you do, possibly the worst. You wasted 2 DP, a potion or two, and totally forgot your resists. Plus you used more than you should of in the first place because you fought the boss too early. Note that when you out of potions you can go pick up the extra wisp gems. You better not convert BURNDAYRAZ. There is the top corner and a place walled off by a spiky plant. Ouch. This is hopeless. You'll need to hit level 9. This is definately still doable. You can score 2 DPs, a natural hit of two, and if you keep BURNDAYRAZ that is enough. Pick up the wisp gems. You could be one-shotting stuff. That was dumb. You didn't even need to risk giving up your death protection. You have resists. You can take a hit. Start by converting 3 wisp gems, pick up BURNDAYRAZ, use it to its full potential, then convert it and pick up 5 of the extra wisp gems you left on the ground. Then hit, hit, and first strike. WAIT! JUST PICK UP A 2 WISP GEMS! YOU CAN STILL WIN! NO! NO! NO! NO! IF YOU HAD PICKED THEM UP EARLIER YOU WOULD HAVE WON! WHAT ARE YOU THINKING! YOU COULD HAVE BOUGHT A STRENGTH POTION TO WIN! YYOU CAN JUST PICK UP TWO WISP GEMS! You might as well attack and go for the dodge. It didn't go up, you misread it. What are you thinking?! You get 10% from conversion. Converting a wisp gem is taking away half of your conversion bonus. There were 3 ways you could have won: 1. BURNDAYRAZ and DPs or picking up 2 wisp gems at the beginning of the fight. TWO WAYS! And that was after your very poor handling of Itssama. They were both very relatively easy too. That was a very tough to watch run. Sorry, I hope I don't offend you. I don't mean to be insultin.
KEY POINTS: Always clear out all poison and mana burn plants right before you level. Don't try to tackle bosses too early--it kills your run. NEVER EVER CONVERT BURNDAYRAZ (except if you KNOW you don't need it). If you have extra open slots, USE THEM. Please try to remember your resists. This is consistently hurting you in fairly significant ways.
Part 57: Southern swamp is the easiest normal dungeon in the game. This ought to be fun! The assassin is terrible without glyphs. Health bonus is the health per level. Since priests have high health you want to give them damage or resists. The perseverance badge is better in the long run, while the sword is nice early. CYDSTEPP isn't that awesome. you know what boosts your early damage? A strength potion! You can't beat that meat man without BURNDAYRAZ, and maybe not even with BURNDAYRAZ. You're fine on exploration. You just have to quaff the strength potion and kill the level 3 gorgon. It is easy! NO! DON'T USE THAT GLYPH! NONONONONO! YOU COULD HAVE DONE IT! Dang. Hoarder is nasty hard to get. You can't get rid of stuff or get your conversion bonus. Nom nom ups your hp by 1 per level. It's like a crappy version of the troll heart of pendant of health. CYDSTEPP really isn't that great. You will learn. The resource drain is immense. It costs you 27 tiles, many of which are wasted. You have 17 health per level. That is quite impressive. IT'S TIKI TOOKI! That ought to be fun. You'll FINALLY unlock him. It is definitely the hardest god unlock, since they changed JJ's so only one imp blocks you instead of 5. Don't forget Mischief (Tiki's monster incarnation)! Go get that zombie downstairs. If you get it later you will be too high level. WHAT ARE YOU THINKING! You can't beat a 3 level higher blob with 2 hits and 3 fireballs! This may be normal, but it isn't THAT easy. Please, just DO THE MATH! EM in southern swamp? Eh, there aren't enough plants for it to matter. It's fine to pick up IMAWAL even if you won't convert it. There isn't much more you could want for your inventory. Using clearance pre-boss? Probably not the best of decisions, but you'll live. It's only normal. Normally you want to save clearance for the boss, just like protection, blood swells, potions, or blood pools. You like tackling bosses early. In this case that's okay, but you have to be careful not to start TOO early, like you did vs Itsssama last run. There are two pieces of popcorn you could kill, and you shouldn't IMAWAL unless you KNOW you can win the fight. Good. You seem to just play better in normal dungeons. Not just getting better kills because the enemies have worse stats, but little things like saving DP until AFTER the level up. One thing is with EM you should use her boons. You tend to only use gods' late game boons whilst totally avoiding the ones best taken early. The thing with Tiki is his boons are nice, but his piety count is very volatile unless you are only cleaning up popcorn. Nice run. Good thing you found Tiki!
KEY POINTS: If you are going to prep a strength potion for early game kills, USE IT FOR EARLY GAME KILLS! Just start doing the math. Please. Also, consider using front-loaded god boons. It makes things much easier.
Part 58: There is one more unlock. If you just get the last one it will also score you pactmaker. Warmonger isn't THAT hard. Hoarder, Warmonger, and debatably Faithless are the hardest, followed by Feeling Parched and Purist. All damage taken incurs -2 piety instead of every shot except the first. You really need to start using the strength potion. It could have gotten you warmonger last time. Well, I hope you find Taurog! Destroying the mana plants means you can't use your strength potion at level 1. So much for that strength potion. Frankly, if you aren't going to use your strength potion you should just prep a fortitude tonic or burn salve so you can cure a poorly-timed poison or mana burn. You can kill him if you regenerate exactly enough. Good job! TIKKI TOOKI! That is not a good choice. Without GETINDARE this is going to be tough. There is virtually no reason to worship TT early unless you want Tikki's Edge (which is way better than poison. Well, there goes that run. Whatever. Just look at the enemy. The GETINDARE he provides you is super useful. How have you not noticed everything weakens you and has first strike! You'll see. Unless you are a mage only Tiki's punishment screws you over. Well, you might as well still unlock the goblin! The answer is you won't beat it. Just give up. Everything has first strike too. If TT poisons you you might as well throw in the towel. You are going to run out of steam so fast. You haven't even realized he gave everyone first strike. Well, that's your fault! I don't make fun of you! Okay, maybe just a little. I mainly just write it in caps on almost every key points section. If you are going to use the strength potion, don't beat up on the plants. USE THE STRENGTH POTION! JUST USE IT! PLEASE USE IT! You are a lucky man. Only wraiths, warlocks, and dragonspawn are magic. If you had explored exactly enough you would have won. YOU CAN KILL HIM! NOOOOOOOOO! Seriously, you need to always explore exactly enough even if it involves throwing away a piece of popcorn. In fact, explore in a way so that you have little pockets and corners for 1 and 2 tile explorations. Seriously, you need to remember your magic res. You can kill that level 6 warlock! You seriously have an issue with resists. You never account for them. Ever. You could have killed that wraith with a level up or now with your strength potion. I guess not. YOU CAN BEAT HIM! JUST REGEN FIGHT! Ugh. Again. You dismiss targets under no basis. If you just did the math you would see this would work. You don't even need the level up for that wraith. Uh, what about the LEVEL 9! That's a better target than the other LEVEL 8's! You can't reach him because of the level 3... You could have used a strength potion and then entanglement to win with Feeling Parched. That leaves one race, which is arguably my favorite. Anyways, well done, despite some painfully bad mistakes.
KEY POINTS: Don't get punished by TT. ALWAY REGENERATE EXACTLY ENOUGH TILES. Seriously, read them enemy panels. Check them before every attack. Please try to remember your strength potion. You are paying for it, you know.
Part 59: GOBLINS! Goblins are fun! They aren't THAT good (except with the notable exception of the SUPER ASSASSIN). With the exception of the SUPER ASSASSIN, you generally want to save his power for extra mid fight level ups. At least you know that you don't use the strength potion out of the dungeon. TT is not good early. Unless you are trying to stack a couple early learnings (It pays off MASSIVELY), you really want him later. You don't want to use the goblin's conversion early. The proper way to play is to save his conversions, so you can score an extra mid fight level up or two. I wonder if you noticed that you started next to a subdungeon. If you just USED THE FREAKING STRENGTH POTION you could have killed the level 3 off the bat, and avoided a lot of this messiness. Ah, CYDSTEPP. This is the single best glyph a rogue can find. You should limit yourself for 2+ level higher kills. Seriously, killing a monster only 1 level higher is a net loss compared to what you could be getting. Always precast glyphs. You can. Wait, you're thinking? How revolutionary! All sarcasm aside, nice kill. It would have been better if you had done the math instead of relying on guesswork. NO! Why on earth would you waste your DP when you could just fireball and restore your mana with a level up. There is a second subdungeon right under the starting position. Uh, that's not Namtar. Namtar is a vicious boss who would totally beat the crap out of your goblin rogue. That's Getandafix, the wimpy wizard. Yeah, dialogue is buggy as of now. You can't find good enemies because you've killed most of them. A combination of a BICEPS and two fireballs would have killed that goblin. That's a shame. Why would you take that mana burn when you could fireball once and auto first strike? BICEPS or Strength potion. Er... What? You're trying to level up kill him. You can. Just CYDSTEPP. This is the 3rd or 4th way you could have killed him also. I'm sure the real Namtar, Beast from the Pit would be offended by this video. How about USING BICEPS. Why did you just throw away your badge of honor. That should be literally the last thing you throw at the boss(es). Always burn first on Getandafix. See, there goes your fireballs. You already have a DP. It's from the wasted badge. You could use the strength potion to beat him. Or you could just ignore the strength potion for the 5000th time. You can kill the dragon and convert a potion. The other shops are covered by plants. FAIL. There is a level 5 dragon in the center of the screen. There. Nice feeling parched win. Don't waste the strength potion on a plant. I'll lose it. Good. I'd rather it be forgotten than wasted. The goblin is best used to get extra mid fight level ups on bosses, but the lack of good stats hurts. You bought a pendant of health. It doesn't, but you unthinkingly bought a pendant. Anyways, that was pretty good. That might have been the first time I've seen you use more than one mid fight level up, and scoring two is a habit to get into.
KEY POINTS: Save goblin conversions for the boss. Write a sticky note that says "USE THE STRENGTH POTION" and put it on your computer. Seriously, the fact that you got the bosses name wrong constantly means you didn't read the panel. Shame on you for not reading it.
We made an expansion and it is awesome. Really, you should check it out, especially if you're looking for some extra challenge.
