Keyboard movement has always been planned, it's just lower on the priority list than a lot of other stuff, that's all ;)

It needed the selection combat system to be implemented first though. Now the next thing we need to figure out is diagonal movement via keyboard. Arrow keys are annoying like that :(

Wasd
Then qezc
Or just make them mapable by user
This is how I would map though

Arrow keys + mouse = awkward

I'm fine with the slots losing their number keys and the numberpad being the keyboard movement.

Though not everyone has a numberpad. So I suppose it should be user-mappable.

And I don't actually expect it to be implemented. And I would pray to the (old and new) gods that if it was, keyboard moving into a mob would attack it.

An issue with keyboard movement is that you are obliged to drink blood pool if it is on your path.

I don't understand why people would want to use the keyboard to move around. It sounds incredibly inefficient. Why move one step at a time, around walls and enemies and everything, when you can just click, have the game find a valid path, and move there instantly?

Especially when you want to play only with one hand you should just use the mouse and not the keyboard. And when you have both hands available, mouse + keyboard shortcuts is very efficient.

I used keyboard controls extensively in the alpha during the exploration phase of the game - the time when you literally have to click every single tile to proceed and you probably aren't going to attack anything. It's much more efficient, and not being able to do so in the beta was a constant (if minor) irritant. Mouse controls only become better once you get past that phase and are making fewer, more significant clicks.
