I love the art design in this game. It actually pulls a lot of references on its own. For instance I wonder how many people will recognize that the fully upgraded witch's hut is a Baba'Yaga's hut from Slavic folklore. When I saw this I found it odd that she was in the swamp and not the forest as the Baba'Yaga was typically a forest witch.

Anyway I love all the art in the game, and whoever designed the character faces is awesome. They are all fantastic and I am constantly impressed when I see new ones. It is actually a motivator for me to try out new class race combo's just to see the face design. (I love the gnome paladin)

Both the goatperson and witch have iterations which I like that didn't make it into the game :P

Also, I think I asked this 2 years ago but never got an answer: what was the motivation behind the priest classes' bug eyes?

It also gives them the nice "spaced out on mushrooms and talking to gods" look as well.
