Linux support

I was looking on the Unity forums, and noticed a reply from one of their guys stating "In unity 4.0 all option available for linux. I am not sure about desktop version, but if you build with google native client than you can run it in google chrome without unity plugin."

Do you think this will be doable?

We haven't been able to afford the upgrade to Unity 4 yet. NaCl client support doesn't have the web-access functionality that lets us manage savegames on our server, so we can't use it for the beta.

We'll have Linux support up and running as soon as we switch to 4.0.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I understand the price issue. Patiently looking forward to being able to enjoy the fruits of your labor again.

You totally reminded me to get back to looking at Unity 4.0 again, thanks :)

Not to sound impatient, but any word yet on the Linux release? I'm starting to get withdrawals.

No. We're on holiday and don't have any money to afford the upgrade yet. Sorry.

I too would like to see native Linux support in the future, but for the moment I have had good success with DD and Steam in Wine. It is a little messy, but I've played more than 100 hours with no game-braking issues, so I say it's fairly stable. Just say if you need help setting this up.

Is the plan to upgrade to Unity 4.0 before the eventual mobile release, or is 4.0 not a requirement for mobile? (I'm not very familiar with Unity)
