Question about beta > steam changeover

Just wondering if all progress will be lost if I switch from the web-based version to the Steam one. I'm assuming it probably will, but kind of hoped otherwise.

It should carry over fine...

We're working on a couple of bugs right now that might make that a little tricky, but we'll do everything we can to not force players to lose progress.

That sounds great. Is the web-based version going to still be available, and will it be interchangeable with the Steam version (via cloud I'm guessing) so that I can play even if I don't have access to Steam?

Cheers

Yup, the webplayer version will still be here and your saves should sync seamlessly across the two. So all you need is a browser with the plugin to play anywhere.

I have a question to add if I may:

So far the Beta has been running in the browser with the need to log into an account. Once on Steam will you be able to simply fire it up and play, or will there be a login screen akin to the earlier browser version?

Which also has another intresting underlying question:

Are my saves stored locally, on steam, or will I have to connect to your server to be able to play?

If you play through steam, you don't need to log in, but at that time, all your saves will be local. This means they won't be available on the web-player.

If you *do* log in, the steam version will get access to your online saves, and as you load them, it will create local copies. When it then saves them, it will also sync them with our server, allowing you to continue your game in the web-player.
