I wan't thinking a "competition" so much as "show a variety of ways to play" thing. Something with preset rules and hopefully everyone either achieves victory in some unique way, or at least shows off what NOT to do :)

Using your system I suppose we could make a competition thing. Like we could say get as many points as possible in "enter dungeon name here", but I'm pretty sure Schatcher would just win everytime.

The Dungeon of the Day was a little experiment that I did a year ago along these lines. It wasn't popular enough to merit continuing at the time, but perhaps post-release it could get more momentum.

These were our scoring rules at the time:
The current medal scoring rules are as follows:

Warmonger = 5 points
Faithless, Hoarder, Purist = 4 points each
Unstoppable, Parched and Miser = 3 points each
Ding! Max = 2 points
Specialist and Cheeky = 1 point each

Furthermore, some classes are worth addition points:

+0 classes: Rogue, Berserker, Assassin
+1 classes: Warlord, Monk
+2 classes: Bloodmage, Paladin
+3 classes: Sorcerer, Fighter, Vampire, Gorgon, Tinker, Transmuter
+4 classes: Priest, Half-Dragon, Crusader, Thief
+5 classes: Wizard

Ties are resolved by completion time.

The specialist badge has been made substantially easier since that time, so I probably wouldn't even count it towards scoring anymore. In terms of class balance, the Assassin and Bloodmage have been nerfed, while the Wizard has been buffed, so I'd adjust them accordingly.

These scoring rules, while they were an effective approach, did create a strong meta-game advantage for the Halfling/Gnome/Goblin races. With these races, you could attempt the hoarder badge without having to fully commit, giving them a strong scoring advantage.

I'd say those class things are quite a bit off. Also, no class seems so terrible now as to merit even a +3. I'd go with something like this:

+0: Rogue, Berserker, Assassin, Monk, Paladin, Wizard
+1: Bloodmage, Warlord, Fighter, Vampire, Tinker, Transmuter
+2: Gorgon, Priest, Half-Dragon, Crusader, Thief, Sorcerer

I speak chaos.

Do keep in mind that those +4 classes were given big handicaps not because they're weak, but their class features or standard play-style preclude specific badges.

Half-Dragon/Sorcerer: due to the fact that their melee attack has both a physical and magic damage component, they are virtually always denied the "specialist" badge.

Priest/Thief: due to the fact that their strongest class feature revolves around potion use, they are either denied the parched badge or must be played at a significant disadvantage.

Crusader: was virtually balanced around orc conversion or trisword boosts to base attack; each of these approaches precludes a high-scoring badge, making it a difficult class to play on a scoring run.

Sorceror can get specialist quite easily due to the huge mana pool but it means no faithless. Crusader is, obviously, a very adaptable altar juggler (you can in fact ignore momentum completely if you want for whatever reason) but that also means no faithless.

Lorgan have you unlocked any of the "Hard" dungeons yet? If so then me, you, and Schatcher could give this a test run with something simple.
All three of us will go for "purist" and "miser" That is no kingdom preparations, and no purchasing items from the shops in whatever hard dungeon you have unlocked. We all choose what class and race we think is best for this and just link each other in the videos so people can see the different versions of the run. If we enjoy doing it we can work on maybe doing a competition thing or harder/different challenge runs.

I'm not there yet, but about to play and record a batch tonight... realistically, though, I'll be travelling out of town soon until the end of November, so I might not be caught up and ready to play those with you-all until the start of December. But feel free to try one between the two of you before that...

ok definately me and Schatcher can work something out in the meantime. :)
Maybe we'll look into trying to get other youtubers involved in some kinda weekly challenge run thing.
