Love the game, but one irritating niggle Ive noticed

If you cast a spell, like a fireball on the target, but not having enough mana., the action becomes unresponsive until you click on yourself. Esc or rightclick does not work to clear it.

And I am playing the Steam version on windows 7.

Could you explain a little more?

Do you mean that you can't cast fireball again when you have enough mana until you do something unrelated to mana gain like clicking on yourself?

He means if you hit the spell button but don't have mana.

(edited) It's hard to really explain so just do this: go into dungeon and spend your mana, then hover your cursor over an enemy and press F. Your cursor won't change but you won't be able to attack that enemy normally until you right click or move your hero or something (right click does work but it needs to be a square other than the monster your mouse was over).

I was just reminded that this also happens when you try to cast something on an immune enemy, like poison against undead.

I believe this is an intentional feature to save you from a grizzly death. If you were to fail to notice that you lacked the mana for fireball then clicked on the target, you'd attack it and possibly get yourself killed. The game "jams up" to keep you from making possible mistake. Perhaps it could be more graceful about it, but in principle it makes sense.

Keep in mind that if you're using hotkeys you've only got about a tenth of a second to notice that the fireball failed to activate before you reflexively click, so this can be a huge life-saver in those circumstances.

Yeah, clearly visible feedback with perhaps a warning sound would be good. Like a sucking sound to show your tank is empty, then allow the spellhotkey to cancel the spell. I just find it jarring to get stuck, clicking and clicking, nothing happens.

there is a sound effect when you hit the hotkey and you don't have the mana. Maybe it is too subtle, but I notice it usually
