At its simplest, the Acidcaster is a fireball specialist who worships the Earthmother and repeatedly purchases the greenblood boon. Early on, this can give you a huge amount of bonus damage per fireball and allow you to easily perform higher-level kills. Corrosion also bypasses resistances, so even magic-resist enemies are no impediment.

Even at high levels it remains a relevant boost. Fireball caps out at 40 damage (50 with the battlemage ring) so +10 damage from corrosion remains useful to the end.

Basic strategy:
Worship EM, run around an IAMWAL everything to gain a huge amount of piety. Buy the Greenblood boon many times. When the piety is around 0, start again IAMWALing stuff.
On tight maps on can get space problems (due to the many plants). But for this ENDISWAL and WEYWUT can help.
When you reached a high amount of corrosion of monsters start to fireball the highest level monster.

Funny as it is, the reason I never got around to going nuts with the acid caster is that I got spoiled by the old Martyr Wraps. They used to put a corrosion stack on everything every time you leveled up (they still do but only on the monsters that are revealed), so if you hit a monster once or twice you could easily get 10 stacks. It was incredibly broken, and one playthrough endgame devolved into spamming Goblin bloodmage runs with them so much I got sick of it.

The really funny thing is that I used to prep EM all the time, but never ever used her - sincce I was getting corroded by my own martyr wraps I had to carry a burn salve around anyway, so always having her altar to desecrate was a no brainer. Had I ever actually though to USE her before that...

Anywho, 10 stacks of corrosion on something is bloody awesome, and if you're exploring the entire map before you start leveling, and are not doing vicious, add Martyr Wraps. If you find the boss before you start leveling, you'll be getting fat stacks, yo.
I almost got pwned by Shifty Brickwork!

Just tried the acidcaster strategy for the first time. I killed 2 lvl 1s kinda arbitrarily early. But at lvl 1 I killed a lvl 6 then my next two kills were lvl 9s. This strategy is awesome, I loved it. It was very different from how I normally play the game to.
I did video it, and that video will go up Monday btw. So if anyone wants to see how the acidcaster works in Hex Ruins you should check it out.
I'll admit since it was my first time using this strat I was a bit clumsy with it, but still it was awesome. Loved it even when I ran into SMM as a boss and had to pound through his nearly 1000 health.
