Hello everyone. First off, a huge thank you to TheSchachter for helping me out over on the Steam forums. He's been instrumental in aiding me in completing each and every challenge, complete with excellent youtube videos, strategies, and wit.

In case you know me over there, I go by SexyPanther. Here my name is CoolBoy, which in retrospect is quite creepy. I'm neither a Panther, nor a Boy. I'm a 27 year old Canadian man who enjoys poutine and hockey. But enough about me.

Jay Plays Indie Games informed me that you conduct weekly challenge runs. Sweet! Desktop Dungeons offers an excellent array of different combinations to drive you nuts. But you know that already. :)

In terms of challenges, I'll try and keep my suggestions foreseeably "winnable" but like TheSchachter has proven, very little in DD is impossible. Anyways, enough rambling. Here are a couple of challenge proposals:

1) Vampire - Purist - Shifting Passages
2) Goatperson - Vicious Token - Any Map
3)* For masochists only: Goatperson - Vicious Token - Purist - Doubledoom

It is strange I'm not sure I understand how "slow strike" works because I did this run and had 0 problems as I still seemed to have first strike against lower level enemies. Ticki ended up helping me greatly. . .maybe there was a bug during my run I'm not sure. But I won handily.

If you have first strike and slow strike they cancel eachother out so you have a normal strike. At least, that's how I thought it worked.

i thought if you had "slow strike" you ALWAYS strike last no matter what. But I was attacking mana burn enemies and not getting mana burned while holding RBS. That isn't normal I think. I may post my video early so someone can explain to me what happened. Because "normal strike" is strike second isn't it?

Lol I got so much piety on this run that I had to buy an extra potion to convert for reflexes.

First strike and slow strike cancel each other out. Thus a normal class that casts GETINDARE has normal strike (first vs lower levels), and a rogue automatically has first strike. This is intentional and was added because slow strike made GETINDARE totally useless (at least I think that's why they added it).
We made an expansion and it is awesome. Really, you should check it out, especially if you're looking for some extra challenge.

No video of my run, but I can give some play by play:
I chose the half dragon since I just unlocked it and magic damage good vs physical resist boss
took balanced dagger since it makes it easy to get experience without taking on monsters with tough vicious stats
extra health boosters to withstand high damage boss attacks (maybe +glyphs would have been a better choice to maximize chance of spawning halpmeh)
translocation seal (I maybe should have done compression since the JJ prep takes an item slot)
bear mace for early knock back boost
shop scroll since i wasn't really looking for any item in particular (might have made sense to boost the soul orb chances)

I figured I would immediately worship JJ since that seemed to be in the spirit of the challenge
my 2 other gods showed up near the entrance: Mystera and Binlor
Mystera would have been nice for the additional mana vs magic vulnerable bosses and Binlor could have been useful for enhanced knockback knockback, but JJ ended up working out best
I should have immediately desectrated Binlor, as it turned out I desecrated him later after patches gave me 8% resistances
between the JJ prep and other prepped items I only had room for 1 item early on, I used it on early halpmeh which was useful to cure many poisons
thanks to the balanced dagger i could easily get to level 4 by killing same level enemies
at that point there was only 1 level 4 enemy visible so i had to explore a bit more
I got mana burned but luckily found a soul orb shop
I had a huge amount of health thanks to 2 health boost boons so could safely knock back a level 7 golem to clear path to the secret subdungeon and get 12 xp from Glenrick, then I found anouther level 4 to levelup
at this point fighting was becoming more resource intensive especially since the level 5 enemies were not placed next to anything I could knock them into
at level 6 I decided to start facing the bosses since i had 140 hp, easily enough to take a hit from either boss, and I was starting to run low on blackspace
it was surprising to see that the goo boss has the same attack as Aequitas but with twice hp and 75% physical resist
I converted halpmeh and imawall (which was sitting on ground) and I stole a mana keg from shop and used for potions
I picked up weytwut and used it to position bosses for knockback
I used my whupaz and burndayraz on the goo, then took chaos avatar to remove ~4 weakening and corrosion and levelup
after that I just used lots of burndaraz + mana potions as well as 1 schadenfreude potion to finish it off
at that point I killed some low level enemies to get close to levelup, then did a straightforward boss kill of Aequitas, a bit anticlimactic considering how much easier he is than the goo boss

I ended up getting specialist badge somehow, I'm pretty sure I did knockback damage to both bosses, this does have me wondering whether whupaz counts as magical/physical/neither damage
overall I would say the run had some good luck: I found halpme very early and the soul orb reasonably early which allowed me to basically ignore poison/mana burn, I didn't find many items i wanted but the lategame keg o' mana was nice and didn't take up inventory space, Binlor was a cheap desecration

Oh man, right I totally forgot about Slow Strike and First Strike... so its really doable. But well, these are intended to give some new players advice. So they learn that too maybe :)
