You're right, this isn't an 80's game. An 80's game wouldn't have any combat preview, tell you any of the enemy stats, and possibly not even why you died. There'd be a 33% or so chance it might even be designed to be unwinnable. This game does an immense amount of hand-holding as is. The one thing you're still allowed to do is make a mistake and fail. Take that out and it's not a game any more, it's an ego-stroking device.

I'm really not going into all this again. Honestly, the debate has been done to death here before.

It's an extremely considered decision on our part and we've discussed this internally way more than even the most obnoxious and petulant forum threads have carried on about it. Death confirmation is bad for DD as a game in so many ways.

Except for the part where it's not strictly a UI option or even close to that, you're entirely correct.

Oh, wait. That means you're completely wrong. :/

Maybe we should compile links to all the threads on this subject and create a sticky for it? Many people are just discovering Desktop Dungeons for the first time, while others of us who have been around for a while have already had this debate several times over. It's a closed book, as far as most of the oldies are concerned. The final decision on this matter was made a long time ago, and I don't begrudge the developers for avoiding resurrecting that dead horse just to beat it to death again.

If you don't want to misclick die, you can left click fight monsters. I find it is much harder to die that way, although it does take a little more time.

I don't know if I post it already or my post has been lost but:
Still it would be a nice feature (warning) though in the beginning of the game and for unprepared players. Developers even can made a button to turn off/on this warning if it's annoys you. First 2 days of playing was very frustrating for me because of absence of warning
And I still sometimes accidently die because of absence of warning - I think it's a must have design element, only if you're not super hardcore gamer from 90's.
I don' want want to be always concentrated - I just want to relax and play game
There are many design desicions on such feature, for example: if the monster is flashing red and it has bar"DEATH" developers can make that you have click monster several times and the screen become more red with each click.
The game is excellent but the absence of warninig or some design decision of warning type would make game even better, simplier, more user friendly
