on the ipad, the average daily has around 40 people attempting it. so big difference indeed

Ok, so not to inadvertently lie or be misleading, I checked the numbers today.
There are 3624 unique players registered in the DERP leaderboard of the PC version, which is basically all players who played at least one daily. This is what I see when I click "Overall" and scroll all the way to the bottom.
In the last 6 days, there have been 171 - 185 players attempting each DERP, as per checking the individual Daily leaderboards.

So if you have roughly 40 people playing each day on the iPad version, it's only about 4-5 times as much on the PC version.
