Joined specifically to show this - surviving a 999 damage attack with no Death Protection!
I don't really know how difficult this really is on a scale from one to VGT... I got it on my second try (didn't find ENDISWAL on the first), so maybe it isn't actually that hard? I know it isn't, like, a traditional Vicious-clear sort of brag, but I got the idea, figured it was probably possible, and here we are! I'd like to try more of these bizarre challenges in the future... The only other one I've tried is one-hitting a basic 300-odd health boss, which I gave up on after being 4 damage away from the kill and expending every possible resource.
This run was actually pretty close to not making it, but a couple of timely Vine Forms following an endgame Consensus was juuuuust enough to BARELY make it. Honestly, without the extra potions+gold+experience from Hitball, I probably wouldn't have had enough health.
A bunch of things about this run:
- Preps: Alchemist Scroll (obviously), Extra Glyphs (higher chance of ENDISWAL and more CP), Earthmother (Vine Form and spawning plants for the 999 damage), and Transmutation Scroll (uhhhh... i dunno really)
- Goblin might seem like an odd race choice, but frankly I don't think this is possible below level 10 and I was a bit worried I wasn't going to make it. The extra Alchemist Scroll use from the prestige level actually made it worth it, even though I ended up making level 10 before converting anything.
- I forgot to use Alchemist Scroll at level 3 and spent all my money before one of my potion uses, so this could totally be optimized WAY more.
- Items Bought: Health Potion (yay alchemist scroll), Dwarven Gauntlets (at level 4 but it was still worth it), Health Pendant
- I honestly don't think this is possible with any class other than Monk (for the higher resist cap). Maybe Priest, but that's still 50-ish health that needs to be pulled from thin air to compensate for the lack of resists.
- Glowing Guardian or Jehora would totally be better, but then I'd need to do Ick Swamp for a 999 damage enemy. (unless I'm forgetting something...?)
Wow, so that was WAY more in-depth than I was planning to go, but I guess maybe that stuff is useful/interesing if anyone else wants to try this. Personally, I'd like to see someone try a non-Monk run with this. Any takers?
