EDIT - looks like
a lot was written as I was writing this up. Let's everyone tone things down a notch here. This kind of hostility is doing no one any good.
Well I can't very well prep Binlor
This is also true of Zot/WHUPAZ. Binlor is a comparable (and much simpler) approach to what you were suggesting, and I find that it trivializes the difficulty of the labyrinth.
My point in stating my completion is that I've done every race and every badge in every hard-difficulty dungeon, and have a good idea of the relative difficulties of each. The Binlor/Labyrinth combination is somewhat unique; no other dungeon gets quite the same difficulty reduction from a single preparation in such a wide variety of circumstances. I do realize in hindsight that comes across as showboating, and I probably should have found a less condescending way of stating that (probably a direct comparison between Labyrinth and the other notably difficult hard-difficulty dungeons - Slime Pit, Cursed Oasis, and Magma Mines standing out from the rest of the crowd). It wasn't intended to be a "showoff" sort of thing, it was intended to be "and you can, too" sort of thing.
Seriously, though, prep Binlor in labyrinth. It won't do purist or faithless, and probably won't be much help in warmonger either (bear mace is your prep of choice there) but for every other badge and for every class it'll make the dungeon
way easier.
and Darvin has repeatedly offered me condescending advice
I apologize if I come across this way. I don't intend to.
(which has been wrong every single time, to boot)
Well,
talk to me about that. When I give advice, it's because it works for me, and if it's not working for other people then I'd like to know that so I can give better advice. For instance my Binlor advice; maybe I'm making unreasonable presumptions on how to use Binlor that aren't obvious, in which case I should be more specific. No one has ever said to me "I tried Binlor and I still am having trouble winning", so it's my presumption that it's good advice that sets people on the right track.
Occasionally I do get facts wrong (the "5 potion preparation" thing this morning as an example). I'm only human, so please do forgive me if I occasionally make mistakes. As for "instructing you how to count", some people
do miss the fact that you can remove the health and mana potion and replace them with others. I was the one who was mistaken in this case, and in the all of two minutes until I realized my error I was looking for an explanation for the discrepancy. When I realized I was wrong, I admitted it to clear up any confusion. I had no idea you'd taken the comment personally and would have apologized if I knew you felt it was insulting.
