Getting 100% on Vicious Steel and Namtar's Lair

Postby Psycho Savager on Tue Apr 22, 2014 10:27 am

I've completed Vicious Steel and Namtar's Lair with most classes and gotten most of the badges. I just need advice on how to complete both dungeons with the following classes: Monk, Vampire and Goatperson.

Also, which class(es) would you recommend for the Vicious token on both dungeons?
Easy & Medium Badges: 210/210 Hard Badges: 450/450 Vicious Badges: 172/180 Triple Quests: 2/3

I believe that for both Monk victories on those dungeons, I prepped Binlor. Both the extra knockback damage and magic resistance help a LOT. On Namtar, prep Quest Items because the soul orb/viper ward are great, and save your reflex/quicksilver/WHUPAZ for the second form. VS is a matter of luck with getting a tolerable monster mix and good items, but I don't recall anything being terribly tricky.

I don't recall how I managed Namtar with a Vampire (probably Dragon Shield I assume) but I remember that Vampire + VS was the very last of the Vicious dungeon combos I finished (VT and goat excepted). It's brutal. I prepped Zot, and this was back in the area where Zot + WHUPAZ had the powerful combination--although I finished with some resources left, so who knows, I might have managed. The monster loadout for that dungeon is just so hostile. You'll probably need to try many times to get a tolerable monster mix. Prep Quest Items because the Balanced Dagger and Platemail are both great.

I have not finished any Vicious dungeon with a goat, so good luck there!

I did VT VS with a Sorcerer I believe, and then later (because I got it confused with Dragon Isles) I did it with an Orc Wizard as well. Once again, Binlor is awesome for this dungeon. You don't have to do anything fancy or weird; just play carefully and with some luck and it's manageable.

Any recommendations on what races for the Monk? I usually do Orc to make up for his weak attack but I'm thinking Halfling or Gnome may help with going the distance.

Orc or human is what I'd do. The higher damage really improves how early you can regen fight things, which makes a big difference.

Also, get yourself a smuggler's den for bonus blackspace and breakable walls.

I agree with Blovski that orc or human is the way to go. I'd probably pick orc because it happens to work nicely with Binlor and helps a bit more at the tricky lower levels.

Monk should basically be binlor shenanigans. Tons of magic res, knock back, and orcs to complement knock back and make up for their awful starting damage.

Vampire and goatperson I haven't played in the longest time, so I'm not the one to ask.

For VT on both I like berserker. Their inherent magic res and boosted damage is very powerful. Paladin is also a great choice.
We made an expansion and it is awesome. Really, you should check it out, especially if you're looking for some extra challenge.

Monk on Namtar's Lair is done! As is Goatperson - not as difficult as I was expecting actually. I was lucky to get Taurog, Tikki-Tooki and Pactmaker.

Next request - what preps to people recommend for getting Feeling Parched?

Been a long time, and I'm just running through the game again (for, like, the 5th time) because I love the game almost as much as The Avatar (just kidding; not possible).

Anyway, I remember struggling with the vampire on VHoS. Dug up this thread; has some tips. Don't know if they're still relevant, as I haven't gotten that far in my current playthrouh.

Feeling Parched and Vampire are done. Just one badge left in Namtar's Lair, Vicious Token. And I am really struggling.
