The Monster Machine

I have tried time and time again and I cannot get past the second stage (even the first stage is a little tricky). I'm out of ideas - what do people recommend?

Do you know what you have to do to clear the second stage? There's an extremely important trick. The boss is nowhere near as tough as he looks.

I'm guessing you have to survive as much of the level as you can without using the totems, and only hit them just before you fight him?

There's some discussion on this thread: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3100

If you don't want to be all that spoiled:

1. Go ahead and use your WHUPAZ here, before you break the totems. 2-3 has lots of bosses, none of which are overwhelmingly strong on their own.
2. You really don't want to touch the totems until immediately before you engage the boss. You should have enough trinkets from the first quest to be strong enough to smash the monsters here even with their extra powers. A venom ward or soul orb will still be handy, so buy those if you find them..

Booyah! Did it! Extremely tough run; no Viper Ward or Soul Orb throughout.

I was lucky to get WONAFYT on the first stage, which made both the first and second stage easier, plus Dracul on the second stage meant I could hold onto my much-needed potions. Killed all of the enemies and got to Lv 9 on the third stage before repopulation. It all came down to getting a Witchalok Pendant; I would have been literally unable to attack the bosses without it.
