Does venom dagger need a buff?

2 healing prevention per level... Apheelsik is 10 and Gorgon passive is 5.

Definitely item slot efficient, but not gold efficient at all. And almost any item that increases your damage output would make a bigger impact most of the time. When you apply such a small amount of poison, the use case is naturally edgy - it's either not anywhere near enough to make a difference, or you didn't need poison to begin with. At least with the glyph there are way more cases when you can apply poison faster than they can recover from it.

Was this tested at other values, like 3? I could be wrong about this, but I've seen the same remarks about Venom Dagger being mostly bad elsewhere and nothing to the contrary. Sure, it's good-ish for regen fighting, but Platemail or Martyr Wraps seem to outclass it by a lot. You might be able to make it work with Halpmeh, but I have doubts even then.

I'd maybe pay 10 or 12 for the current version, but more poison would be more satisfying than a lower cost.

I would be happy to see it buffed, but honestly it doesn't need it.

To begin with, it's a cheap and good CP fodder, so even if you don't want to use it, it's good for something.

It doesn't matter that it has lower values than Apheelsik or Gorgon's poison strike, since it doesn't cost mana, and is reliably preppable on anything.

Even if you aren't regenfighting, being able to regen 1-3 tiles without the monster healing is a benefit, and could easily mean the difference between winning and not.

While the number 2 looks puny, have you considered it's effect? If you are regenfighting, at level 1 the healing prevention is equal to dealing 2 extra damage by the blacksmith sword. By level 10 it grows to 20, outclassing all the swords combined.

Whether platemail is better or not depends on your build. Platemail let's you conserve more health, while the dagger usually less, but replenished mana as well. It's worth noting though, that platemail has a drawback, and the dagger does not.

MW is incredibly powerful on the right characters, at the same time even more usuless for others. I'd say it's just more niche.

Btw Mtaur, have you tried the dagger on Monks? Or TT worshipping Warlords?

The trick is joining TT when you have reached a higher level already and have plenty of popcorn to slay. You can destroy harmless altars for extra piety, spend gold, cast some favored glyphs, it's up to you. But don't bother playing the warlord as it's supposed to be while under TT. What you want is just a shopping spree for some levels of poison and maybe dogding, and finally converting into someone safe before you continue fighting.

And why does the warlord profits from this? You could just use a diffrent class and it would be the same effect.

@Kami

Poison let's you explore tiles, and regen not just health but mana too, without healing your foe. So with high amounts of poison you're effectively decreasing the cost of Cydstepp, potentially much further than Mystic Balance can. And you get a Getindare too, from TT.
So you can sorta regenfight very high level monsters even with killer damage.
