You are right, I had to spend almost all of my potions around levels 1 and 2 while walking around without food.
After that it was trivial to get to level 8. Plenty of food for conversion at the end.

With knockback I was able to hurt 2 bosses at all times. Even though I screwed up, and angered Mystera around level 2 or 3 (+10% resist to all monsters), I still won. My first goat win on a hard dungeon.

I drank 5 health potions, I converted 4 glyphs, I considered each move as to how many floor squares I was getting for the food value. Didn't matter... I still guessed consistently wrong and ended up with a huge explored area with only a handful of ones and a single two, which only made the empty hole larger (9XP, so I found 6 monsters in more than 38.25% of the level (I'm not sure how much healing went into damage versus exploration, I took a lot of exploration damage though, so I'm sure I was well over 40)... plus two plants, one of which had a spoon). Such is goat.

Not sure if I could have done better with the monsters spread all over the place.

But since people could win, I guess probably just bad luck.


This Sakura person, really makes me feel like he or she is a cheater, consistent everyday fast (around 11+ mins) and Purist runs and always faithless (I would think so looking at low piety numbers). I don't think even if any of the super players (Tinker) that if they were still playing could even do this (granted Tinker is not a speed player).

Around level 2 was a really tough spot in terms of food. It is impossible to see where your blackspace edges were, but I am sure there were some low-level monsters on the edges, just out of sight. Just bad luck.


Yeah, some people obviously cheat. I would not dwell on it.

Honestly, I am not sure there is a game that I played where people did not cheat.
Quake, CS, xmoto, Wesnoth, L4D2, etc.

Got top XP again... my secret: prepping Elite Items, Black Market, and Orb of Zot managed to get me the Amulet of Yendor right next to the start. I assume that's it... as the other people over 300 didn't prep Elite Items and probably didn't get it.
