I really don't get the preps some people make, Like on today's labyrinth the last line was:

Binlor/Witchalok pendant/+2 sword.

Clearly Binlor is good. Witchalok is very strong too (2 fireballs + one hit with 40-60% resists + 1 more free hit due to first strike). Yet so many ppl prepped the +2 sword, which the rogue does not need since he has high attack already.

I also don't get how you can prep Witchalok, but not pick the fireball as well.

* Gorgon in Grimm's Grotto *

I am curious to know what strategies other people used.

Spoiler: show
Gods/Items with my preps, naturally.

secret sub: blacksmith, normal sub: yin-yang
fireball: hard to find, almost by the wall in the passage on the right bottom side of the screen
gods: PM, EM(thank GOD!!!), Taurog, GG (lol, I guess he is actually usable if you switch to him at the very end somehow, since you will only fireball the boss in the end)
boss: Frank, ofc
also, second line from the top, to the left off center is B2P
glyphs: WONAFYT, PISORF, B2P, BYSSEPS (IIRC).
items: whurragarbl, +2 mana pendant, Bloody Sigil, spoon, Troll Heart(IIRC, maybe not), Fire Heart, Witchalok Pendant, Martyr Wraps.

It was hard to find killable L2 at the start (and I foolishly wasted a ton of blackspace looking for L2s). I had to settle for 5 L1s instead eventually.

My strategy on the boss was: started fighting him at L6, about to become L7.
* Whupaz him
* request as many Greenbloods as I could (I had him at ~7 corrosion)
* 2 fireballs
* Level up
* Kill a bunch of popcorn so that I am almost at level 8
* 2 fireballs, B2P for more fireballs
* 50 piety from Consensus, Alchemist pact
* drink health potions, B2P, fireballs
* Level up to L8. fireballs, B2P, more fireballs, Schadenfreude potion, more fireballs
* Plantation, clearance, more fireballs.

Somewhere around level 5 I did a spreadsheet that proved that the above strategy gives me enough dmg on the boss to kill him.

If you do not burn as much blackspace as I did looking for L2s and the fireball(I only found it in the last few available blackspace squares), then you will not even need the Alchemist pact, and you will be able to reach higher levels easier.

If you did not need the alchemist pact, then GG becomes usable: switch to him via Consensus when you exhaust all your EM refills, and use GG's refills for more fireballs, while converting your glyphs. Just don't attack anything or use B2P.

I ran out of blackspace earlier then expected... I was lvl 7, close to lvl 8, almost out of resources. Frankie had 5 stacks of corrosion. Tried to calculate where i would end if i started the bossfight here but I would not come close enough to kill him.
So i decided to put everything on leveling up. In lvl 8 i had to use one potion to kill ying and yang and level up to lvl 9. Started the fight with Whupaz, then fireballing with all mana i could collect(BTP and potions). A few more conversions brought him in death gaze range. Could land two hits on him with the death protections from ying and yang. Then i had enough piety left to entangle him but my damage was a bit too low to kill him with one final hit...
Didn't prep conjunction so Pactmaker wasn't showing up.

It was a close fight after all. One more potion or a few extra coins. I need to be more efficient in general in fact.

I didn't look at your strategy before playing but we ended up playing with very similar strategies. Main differences are that I used PISORF for damage and got from shops Whupaz, Elven Boots, Keg of Mana and Spoon (Elven Boots with Translocation Scroll). I also didn't know about B2P before I used Clearance since there was a plant on top of it.

Yep, I had to use PISORF too, since I only found BURNDAYRAZ at the last moment.
Same for B2P, I only found it cause I saw something under a plant, and I had to use an early clearance to get it.

No shame in losing it, it was a hard daily. William, DBeatch, Bwrgarbl all lost.

It is an undead boss (can't poison him), 100+ attack/888 hp, 140% difficulty, fireball was hard to find, the sub is just meh (I did not have enough blackspace to kill Yin and Yang. I barely had blackspace left at level 5 already.).

I was lucky I squeezed out a win with the resources I had left after I burnt so much blackspace at L1.

Yeah, I couldn't stay awake for that one, it was a long day and I should have put it off, but then I probably wouldn't have seen it at all. Basically, I nodded off for a moment and woke up dead. I have no idea what I clicked. But it wasn't going great anyways... I already had a bunch of errors from lack of focus. I didn't have a real streak anyways... I keep missing a day every once in a while, and it was bound to happen soon anyways because of Daylight Saving Time (which has killed streaks for me before).

As for today's... why is everyone taking the Amulet of Yendor? Don't they know the Bloody Sigil is the correct choice? But seriously, I seem to have run into a weird bug... I played the day before's, but again forgot about the time change so I didn't notice that I was playing on and over the deadline. Which has somehow caused that play to become today's play... with preps that got converted from the ones I chose for the Elf Fighter in Havendale (the win of which isn't showing on that board... the streak board counted it though). I have no idea what today's is, or the preps beyond what the list shows... because I'm apparently still playing it.

Ugh, what? This is weird.

~(^+^)~ keeps losing too due to faulty hardware.

* Vampire in Magma Mines *

Really easy one today, Yendor in the preps.

Spoiler: show
As usual, blackspace is nearly worthless to a Vampire, but bloodcows are everything.
You can safely explore 70-80% before you start killing anything.

Good items too: keg of something, fireheart, vampire blade, 10% resists shield, 10hp amulet, a spoon.
glyphs: pisorf, weytwut, apheelsik, imawal. No getindare or halpmeh.
Transmutation seal is always better for a Vampire than Compression seal (you convert almost everything anyway).

I won without even using any bloodpools. I used some at the end to finish off the remaining monsters though.

Ah, so taking the Bloody Sigil isn't so wrong... it's quite good for a Vampire. Not as good as Yendor (where you can set up that big double catapult to run something down... or just pop it early to solve a problem), but as good as the Blue Bead (which doesn't convert for much but is small and something you want to keep... the Sigil is large, but only useful early and then converts well).
