VGT Olympics

Postby Tinker on Sat Mar 19, 2016 9:18 pm

We are opening the VGT Olympics! Spring season (unless you're way south, then it's Autumn season).

Rules
Win VGT in a way that complies with one of the sports mentioned below. Post screenshot. If you did any scumming, let us know what was it (just to put the win in perspective - it doesn't detract from its value). Since 90% of the players did Purist with the Rogue and VT with the Vampire, these nominations would be a bit scorned upon. I'll list your build (and your name) in the list for each sport. Previous wins also count as long as you link or post a screenshot (and include a comment on what you scummed for, if anything). Infinimuter and TT infinite piety builds are undoubtedly fun to play, but since they exploit known bugs, their nominations will be - you guessed it - scorned upon. :)

The Sports

I. Purist (non-Rogue)
1. William - Human Paladin of Dracul
2. dusty - Human Paladin of Glowing Guardian
3. ~'(^ + ^)'~ - Human Wizard of (Mystera Annur -> Glowing Guardian -> Dracul -> Taurog (+PM) -> Dracul)
4. dusty - Human Sorcerer of [JJ-> PM -> Mystera -> Dracul]
5. choongmyoung - Orc Monk of [Taurog -> Dracul (+PM) -> GG]

IX. Cheekiest Wins (achieve highest level-difference for first kill, then win VGT)
(note: so I went thru all the screens in the thread to look for highest first kill level difference. turns out we only have L+1 cheeky results so far, I guess folks aren't normally eager to sink resources into an L1 kill, plus due to the clogged courtyard, altar scumming pretty much requires you to kill off a bunch of L1s).
L+6 ~'(^ + ^)'~ - Orc Rogue of GG -> Dracul(+PM)
L+1: William (Human Paladin), The Tapir (Human Priest), devilchn (Human Rogue), dusty (Human Sorcerer)

X. Non-Paladin no altar conversion (one deity + Pactmaker allowed)

XI. Battle of the Holy Priest Vs the Undead King
PRIEST ONLY, prep Pepper, bring to H and turn him undead for the fight.
1. dusty - Human Priest of [GG->PM->Mystera->Dracul]
2. ~'(^ + ^)'~ - Orc Priest of GG (+PM) -> Dracul
3. Spleen - Halfling Priest of Taurog (+PM) -> Dracul

XII. Non-Paladin "Mono-God"
only one deity allowed, OR Pactmaker
1. ~'(^ + ^)'~ - Human Monk of Dracul
2. ~'(^ + ^)'~ - Human Wizard of Dracul
3. ~'(^ + ^)'~ - Human Bloodmage of Dracul
4. dusty - Orc Monk of Binlor Ironshield
5. Magic Rabbit - Orc Rogue of Glowing Guardian
6. choongmyoung - Orc Monk of Taurog
7. Spleen - Human Rogue of Taurog

XIII. Challenges
Original challenges were written by ~'(^ + ^)'~. Here goes:
Completed Challenges (if more people are interested, I'll make a new sport):
Rat Monarch without Binlor - ~'(^ + ^)'~ - Mystera+PM->Dracul->GG
Uncompleted Challenges
-none-

+ anyone who wants to suggest more challenges, just do so! I'll amend the list.

Post up! :D

I'll re-use an old win as I don't have the time to do a fresh one at the moment. :)
1. Purist (non-Rogue)

Image

I scummed for ~three good items, such as Gloves of Midas and maybe two other useful items such as Venom dagger or Vampire blade. In my winning run I found quite a few good items and glyphs.

@Tinker I see dusty got a pretty decent winning time. Maybe you could add fastest VGT win as a catergory.

@Tinker I consider 15mins fast compared to my times. Maybe people with times below 15 mins can link their times and fastest 3 can be listed. I know a lot of people are super competitive with time runs.

i think that the 15 min time is skewed a lot by paladin of gg with rbs and dragonshield being too overpowerd for vgt.

since i didnt screenshot it the first time i made it, i tried again for:
1. purist (non rugue)
human paladin of glowing guardian
Image
scummed for gg in first tower (obviously), hoping for soulorb (saves resources) and something to bypass horatios resistances (didnt get either), pactmaker by tower 5 is practically a must

Wow this should be an interesting olympics! :D
Time as a category is also a good idea, just list the top 10 (or top 5) best times. Every person can have one entry, which he/she can improve. So right now it would only consist of dustys 15:26 and Williams 46:32, as these were the only posts here. :)

I'm hoping to contribute more to this thread in the future in the category of Purist VGT runs (working on Crusader and Monk at the moment), but currently I'll post my contribution for VGT time:

Image

Not the fastest time so far in the thread, but it's by far the fastest I've had in my VGT runs, and the fact that it's Warmonger Parched Priest makes it even more special for me.

Now just gotta have the pieces fall in place for my Purist Crusader run and I'll have my next contribution. It's entirely doable, but I need the right setup and more practice in handling the endurance run that is purist VGT.
