Something I recently noticed with Goatperson in Endless Blizzard: the altar smashing that occurs when returning to the camp for the final time does not prevent you from worshipping the smashed altars. You gain and lose piety as is normal but you can no longer take any boons from them.

Not about the Extreme East things, just saying an idea came in my mind. I know new features won't come up in a while but anyway. I like god-things (that's why I like the concept of LT), and hey, what about a vicious dungeon like this.

The Sanctuary

Monsters: some easier ones

Boss: 8 bosses, each is an incarnation of deities. Lower stats than common bosses

Golem Miner: Golem icon, Knockback 50%, Bloodless, Magic Resist 25%
Bloodsucker: Vampire icon, Lifesteal 80%, Undead, Bloodless, Cowardly
Raflesia: Some kinda plant icon, Spawn Plant: 30, Poisonous, Mana Burn, Magic Immune, Bloodless, No Experience
Glowing Paladin: Human Paladin icon, Death protection: 10, Magic Attack
Abomination: Imp icon, Blinks, Fast Regen, Physical Resist 25%
Claire the Magician: Warlock icon, Magic Attack, Mana Burn, Magic Resist 50%, Retaliate: fireball
Ares the Berserker: Orc Berserker icon, Berserks at 75%, First Strike, Physical Resist 25%
Slim Serpent: Serpent icon, Cowardly, Weakening, First Strike

Special Rules:
1. All nine altars are available in a special sub, and you can get a lot of piety sparkles there
2. When a boss falls, correspondng (every) altar is destroyed and you are punished, except when you follow that god

sounds like a great idea and it seems quite interesting. you would have to rebalance the JJ desecration I think though because a 50/50 chance of being absolutely screwed or not being screwed at all seems quite polarizing to me. JJ punishment: reduce health to 1 and mana to 0, and reducing bonus damage, max health and max mana by 33%. depending on how low the base stats are for these bosses determines how much this penalty does but in most cases it most likely reduces max mana by 3 or 4 (or if your a sorcerer be prepared to lose upwards of 6) and reduces max hp by 25(lvl6) - 30(lvl7). to me this loss seems absolutely monstrous to have a 50/50 chance to receive. if the punishment was forced then that would be more consistent but really harsh but then again glowing guardian has to be dealt with at some point in time.

and as I side note I question the viability of vampire in this dungeon. one of the few ways I see him succeed is through some really weird and wonderful play with the bosses dropping them all to 10 hp and then chaining kills from there so that none of the punishments actually matter (depending on how low the stats are makes this either a challenge or a walk in the park). if he was only able to fight 1 at a time though this would amplify the difficulty greatly

also by lower stats then common bosses you mean like 75 dmg and 318 health?

Yeah, under 75 dmg and 318 health (multiply difficulty modifier) but not too low. They would be too difficult under ~7 punishments. Maybe bosses could reside in different subdungeons. Because dealing all 9 at once would be an easy way to kill all the bosses, especially for PISORF spammers.

I also agree with the JJ punishment - forcing it would make it much simpler and well balanced. Most build will kill the GG one the last, or simply worship GG at that time to completely evade the punishment.

God interactions would be awesome to see there. In an extreme case for example, Worship JJ to reach 100 piety and kill Abomination, convert to GG and kill Paladin, convert to Taurog and kill Berserker, convert some glyphs to go to EM and kill Raflesia, use plantation then worship someone, and consensus... you might be able to evade every punishment.

Goat, Rat and Vampy would suffer to win this dungeon, and Heretic would be the best. For the viability of Vampy, I guess putting some meat men in the default monster pool will make it much easier.

All I really want out of future content (as in, specific stuff I dream of) is a central dungeon or two following classic conventions. These gimmicks are really cool and fixed bosses posing certain challenges are neat, but something Extreme Edition has insofar failed to do was replicate the basic, randomized gameplay of the old days where improvision was key and identifying the boss to plan your future strategy around was smart play. I'd LOVE some dungeons with a huge random pool of baddies to pick from and a new range of Extreme-ified random bosses to drop in for some surprise gameplay shakes. In particular, I'm seeing a Doubledoom style dungeon with two bosses that both could be from different pools. Like, you got the "lesser" boss that could be one of 12 or so "easy-ish" bosses (like the current random pool) and the "main" boss which could be one of 6 more complex, problematic bosses that need a bit more thought to work around. Add onto them the varied slew of monsters to make leveling a pain, and you have a wonderful, replayable "playground dungeon" for the high level player, whom Grimm's Grotto just isn't cutting it anymore.

I admit that I'm a little confused about the first heretic challenge. What's the win condition for the dungeon? I got as far as destroying the glowing scripture, but couldn't progress any further. Plus, since I couldn't exit the dungeon, I had to kill myself too. There weren't any other obvious things to do - if you're supposed to feed more piety to the doll, you can probably accidentally softlock yourself by killing all enemies, since you'll have no way to exit.

This has probably been answered earlier, sorry for being too lazy to read over the last 11 pages >-<

No worries, and I'd love to hear more feedback from you in general! The key to Heretic Bronze is losing piety once you've picked up that Cursed Artefact. If you feed him enough piety (you reached the first threshold by getting that book), then the win condition will become evident. Unfortunately, that means you actually need to *have* piety to lose and a way to lose it. So the converting (for a bonus) and drinking (for a loss) of health potions can help, and in general try to kill as few undead as possible as you level up (that way you'll have some piety to invest immediately once you get the Artefact, and will have more undead to kill to lose piety once you've got it).\

If you did reach the second threshold and aren't sure how to win, then look at your third acquired class ability. Something important happens when you level up...
We made an expansion and it is awesome. Really, you should check it out, especially if you're looking for some extra challenge.

It was the leveling up thing that was confusing then (edit: and I finished the challenge fine after that), there's no clear indicator you need to level up (and I couldn't at that point either).

As an aside you can turn the level 10 possessed goat into stone which I assume messes things up. Generally bosses can't be turned into stone.

Also, despite being punishment immune, the heritic seems to still loose attack bonus when converting a taurog item.

Thank you for making this mod! I've really been enjoying it (especially the investigations and the boss parade). The difficulty is quite a challenge! I'm finding the east to be a bit harder than the north.

Does anyone have any advice for Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum part 1 (Deadman's pass with Rat Monarch + Hoarder + Specialist)? I'm not very good with Rat Monarch, and Hoarder seems brutal, especially for the early game. I suppose Specialist just means I need to focus on pisorf instead of fireballs.
